Sunday Morning Fall ACME Board Meeting Crew. Different backgrounds, one goal: keep summer baseball and community at the center for the players and schools that make it special: wisdom + compassion
Welcome back Chad Spencer!
Where’s @BrunswickJeff? Oh wait, the @Browns play today
With this, Pete Crow-Armstrong became the 7th player in MLB history to have a leadoff homer and a walk off homer in the same game and became the 10th player in MLB history to have back-to-back 30 homer/30 stolen base seasons!
Upperclassmen
It's your team.
Your job is to be a leader.
Help the younger guys.
Your role is not to be the cool guy that makes the underclassmen miserable.
Represent yourself, your parents, your coaches, and your program the right way.
Show the underclassmen they can trust you.
Your team will either overachieve or underachieve because of your ability or inability to lead.
Immature selfish upperclassmen destroy teams and programs.
“If you’re good enough, college coaches will find you.”
One of the biggest lies in amateur sports.
Coaches can’t evaluate a player they don’t know exists.
Talent absolutely matters. But so do visibility, timing, relationships, information, and performing in the right places.
You don’t need to attend every event.
You don’t need to play all over the country.
You don’t need to over-promote yourself either.
But you do need a plan.
Because coaches can’t find you if you’re hidden, regardless of how talented you are.
Talent creates the opportunity.
Visibility gives talent a chance to be discovered. ⚾️👍
Incredible news out of Waynesfield.
Per head coach Dan Faraglia, Eli Zechman, a senior lineman for the Tigers, rang the bell yesterday after completing his final chemotherapy treatment and was able to travel with the team last night to a scrimmage.
Let’s say you want to play college baseball.
College players typically play
1-2 months in the fall
4ish months in the spring
1-2 months in the summer
They also lift 2-4+ times throughout the ENTIRE calendar year
They are also hitting, throwing, fielding, and have team practices 4-6 days a week throughout the entire year.
If you think just going to mandatory HS team practices are going to get you ready to play in college
You have a long road of disappointment ahead of you.
Big pickup for Texas A&M.
Isaiah Snavely, the No. 18 player in the 2027 class and a four-star ⭐️ shortstop from Indiana, has committed to @AggieBaseball.
FAIRVIEW WINS IT. Calvin Kepler’s three-run walk-off double in the bottom of the 7th gives the Apaches their first ACME state championship, 4-3 over defending champ St. Henry. Down to their last three outs and they took it all. Final: Fairview 4, St. Henry 3.
ACME State Championship
Travel ball is a runaway train. We are never going to compete schedule-wise with it. But what we can do is put on a really great State Tournament every summer, for ACME baseball. @AcmeCongress
Know what you are, do it well, and let the experience speak. https://t.co/plpjEeredF
