Evil boomerangs. See Psalm 7:14-16. Our judgmental actions to bring others misfortune eventually come back on us. Surprise to the blind fool! Oh LORD, keep me from judging others and deciding their worth. Help me do what You made me for; to sing Your praises and to love others.
May I daily be transformed more to your likeness, Jesus, to possess a non-anxious calm and meekness free from fixation on myself so I may embrace the enjoyments and deployments when being more attentive to you and those around me.
Keep me from thinking too highly of myself and too little of You, O God. Break the Dagon of pride into pieces before the ark of your presence. Demolish the Babel of self-opinion. Level to the ground my Jericho walls of a rebel heart; then grace will be my experience and cry.

Father, teach me that Christ cannot be the way if I am the end. That he cannot be my Redeemer if I am my own savior. Do whatever it takes to prepare me for every step of my earthly journey until I am safe at home with you in eternity.

Great job of giving the context and meaning to CUAA’s victory, Charles! CUAA was where my life was deeply enriched in faith, friendships and spiritual formation the instilled value and reverence for God’s Word, the centrality and power of the Gospel, the response of love to our Savior Jesus and a life-long commitment toward making disciples all across our nation in churches as small as 3 people (church plant) to over 3,000 and to the nations whether Israel, Russia, China, England or Africa with Liberian refugees planting nearly a hundred preaching stations and Sudanese who showed up at my door in Omaha, Nebraska and we planted a church. (I baptized 37 in a single service) with the passion and purpose that more and more would hear the Good News and be saved. God made it all possible, but CUAA was the place, the professors, the friends where God set the course of my life. Oh mat the vision be restored to makes disciples of all people destined for every vocation; for the Good News is too good to keep to ourselves! Thank you Charles for your continuing work of the Gospel.
Look at the circumstances when you rose to new heights of strength and moral clarity. A crisis provides the stimulus to live our best. Muscles are built by tearing down then made stronger by repair, so also troubles can lift us up. The lift is from the One who is above all.
Rejoice in God, the Giver of all goodness! The One who is the ground of your faith is also the source of your joy. Are you looking for joy in something less than God? Don’t fall asleep on Delilah’s lap. When God is all in all to you, your joy will always be full.
May I say to all I meet, I am journeying toward’s the Lord’s given place. Come with me for your own good. Let me never be ashamed of Jesus or his words for by the power of the gospel I am light shining in the world, salt of the earth, the dew of heaven and the aroma of life.
In prayer, my path is made spacious and sure. In prayer, time’s alurements and cruel disappointments lose hold on me. In prayer, I am lifted above the frowns and flatteries of life. In prayer, I intercede for my family, friends, neighbors, God’s kingdom. Help me pray always.
God spoke and out of nothing came everything . God still speaks. Every time the Word of God is proclaimed, creation is in motion again. Read it. Pray it. Live by it. “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
- Jesus
Read God’s word not to make him fit into our preferences or make him the custodian of our desires and comforts, but to humbly desire God as he is…beyond our comprehension and greater than we imagine…for this is the reality check we all need. “God is God and I am not.”
For 2025: Truth is we want a map for the wilderness journey. What Jesus gives us is companionship. One is a mental plan that renders God as a nice but unnecessary. The other is personal where love and trust take us to heights we could never imagine…and God is essential!
The good news is so good it can absorb any bad news and still be good news that brings joy! “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
Faith lives on tiptoes; wide-eyed, alert, anticipating God’s next move, where He will show up, what he will say…and to whom. Faith awakens us to how God is still on the move and speaks; and we get to be in on it. By faith today is not a monotonous repeat. It is joyfully new!
We do not become more spiritual by becoming more removed from this material world. The life of faith is mixed with the life of everything else; birth, death, occupation, friendships, enemies, pain, joy, betrayal, health, weakness, sex, greed, beauty, barrenness, love…and grace.
Don’t say you’ll pray about a matter. Pray! The Christian life is not all major announcements or spectacular accomplishments. As poet Wm Blake said, we “do good to another… in Minute Particulars.” Holy moments are carried out in the immediate circumstances of our lives.
