AI is changing how we should think about backups.

Company data is no longer just “old files in a folder”.

It is becoming input for AI tools, agents, automations and business decisions.

That creates new risks:
- accidental deletion
- bad access control
- cloud account problems
- ransomware
- data fragmentation
- too much dependency on one provider

A backup should not depend on one laptop, one office server or one cloud account.

That is why decentralized backup is becoming interesting.

DeNet Storage uses decentralized infrastructure where files can be encrypted and distributed across independent storage nodes.

It is not magic.
It is not “100% risk-free”.
But it is a serious response to one big problem:

How do we keep important data recoverable when AI, cloud dependency and cyber risks keep growing?

I am exploring this through DePIN Storage Benelux and my own DeNet DataKeeper infrastructure.

What does a DeNet DataKeeper do?

A DataKeeper provides real storage infrastructure to the DeNet network: server capacity, hard drives, bandwidth and uptime.

That is why DePIN is interesting to me. It is not only about tokens or charts, but about connecting blockchain incentives with physical infrastructure.

I currently operate 6 DeNet DataKeeper licenses on my own server/QNAP setup.

Based on DeNet’s advertised assumption of $1,500/year per license, 6 licenses could represent around $9,000/year potential income.

My estimated investment is around $5,500–$6,000 before electricity, giving a rough payback estimate of 7–8 months, or 8–10 months more conservatively.

This is not guaranteed passive income.

Real results depend on network demand, token value, storage usage, uptime, electricity cost and protocol conditions.

No hype. Real infrastructure. Practical participation in decentralized storage.
