Our local MP Angela Rayner visited Droylsden Academy today and met with the students who attend the DA Politics elective. They talked about current affairs and she enjoyed answering the variety of questions they posed to her.
A former Ashton-under-Lyne store will be converted into a college extension after funding was secured.
Now an extra 350 students may be accommodated at what was Wilko.
The site, which lies next to Tameside Council’s main building, will be leased to Tameside College following confirmation of capital funding from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), through its Local Growth Fund (LGF).

The Governors, staff and students at Mossley Hollins High School are delighted to invite prospective pupils and their families to the school’s Open Evening on Tuesday, 23rd September 2025, from 6.00pm to 9.00pm.
Visitors will be able to explore the school, meet teachers and pupils, and discover more about Mossley Hollins’ ambitious and inclusive ethos at the heart of the local community. Headteacher addresses will take place at 6.00pm, 6.45pm and 7.30pm.

Pupils at Hyde High really have taken things to a new level with their GCSE results.
For they have produced a significant increase in the number of top grades, with many students achieving a string of 9s and 8s and the overall pass rate reaching new heights.

A Mossley teenager is putting experiences alongside some of the country’s top footballers to good use after overcoming issues to score highly in her GCSEs.
Gracie Naggs admits she missed ‘probably 40 per cent’ of her final two years of learning at Mossley Hollins High School because of back problems.
But while her dreams of playing for Manchester City ended, it did not stop her getting the grades that earned her a place at Connell College, which is situated next to Etihad Campus.
