Sean McVay said, "Show me anybody that's great in anything they do, I'll show you somebody that's persevered, demonstrated that mental toughness to overcome some obstacles & adversity."
Toughness is built through small physical wins.
It is physical and mental.
Toughness is not a talent, it is a skill.
It is a muscle that needs to be worked to grow and develop.
✅Mental toughness means being consistent.
✅Mental toughness means being able to focus on what matters.
✅Mental toughness is about your habits, not your motivation.
✅Mental toughness is staying resilient in the face of obstacles.
✅Mental toughness is pushing through discomfort.
✅Mental toughness means having belief in yourself.
3 Principles to Master Mental Toughness:
1. Resilience: Resilience is the ability to bounce back from challenges, setbacks, and adversity. It is important for toughness because it allows you to maintain your composure, persevere, and keep moving forward despite obstacles. Resilience helps build mental toughness by cultivating a resilient mindset enabling you to handle stress and pressure effectively.
2. Emotional Intelligence: Emotional intelligence involves understanding and managing your emotions, both in yourself and others. It is crucial for toughness because it helps you navigate challenging situations, maintain self-control, and effectively handle conflicts or setbacks. Emotional intelligence fosters resilience, adaptability, and effective communication, all of which contribute to overall toughness.
3. Adaptability: Adaptability is the ability to adjust and thrive in changing circumstances or environments. It is important because it allows you to embrace change, be flexible, and quickly recover from unexpected challenges. You approach challenges with a growth mindset, seek new strategies, and find innovative solutions. This grows your toughness and ability to succeed in dynamic environments.
