Take a virtual tour of our 8000-series mockup with a Metro super fan as he explores the railcar for the first time! 😀
“It feels more spacious inside,” Jonathan said. “It feels very Metro. It has a lot of history with the color scheme inside, but everything is still very modern.” 🚇
See it in person at our exhibit at the @freedom250 Great American State Fair on the National Mall!
@wmata At 10, all I wanted on a family DC trip was to ride Metro. That first ride sparked a lifelong love for transit in me. Metro is more than getting from A to B its community, memories, and connection. It even brought me to my partner which I’ve visited all 98 stations with ❤️
@wmata I was 10 and we went on a family vacation back in 2012! I remember the only thing I told my parents I wanted to do was ride the metro. I brought my camcorder and this is just a snippet of the clip I got. I’m still a Metro fan and rider to this day
@wmata After being to 98, I’ve always liked the twin tube design of Wheaton/ Forest Glen! Fort Totten also has a cool implementation on the Green line platform
@wmata@dpwalrod Out of curiosity, for events where metrorail service is extended, is it only extended on the Blue and Silver lines… or are transfers still possible?
@dcadamb Hmm… WFC and National airport are both 3 track stations, and Rosslyn, Pentagon, Gallery Place are all multi level station. Is there more coloring to do? I’m not sure I’m on the right track
@dcadamb Well when you put it like that, those stations have been used for storage and turning around trains. I also know that all the silver line stations have at least one crossover point on either side of the station
