Picture with me, if you will,
A night that never knows an end,
Where darkness seems the only
Certain thing.
Where silence slows your heart until,
As curtains called Despair descend,
You find that you've forgotten how
To sing.

Every root desire you have is God-given, and is a consequence of your Imago Dei nature.
You want:
-Power
-Pleasure
-Peace
God has made us to receive, have, experience, and enjoy all these things - from Him.
We suffer because we try to satisfy those desires elsewhere.
I understand the argument that addressing a saint or archangel in prayer, is not effectively praying *to* that person, but rather asking that person to pray on one's behalf.
This begs the question, can a person who is not omniscient hear the prayers of thousands? If so, how?
So why did Moses' father-in-law need to be the one to say it? What if someone else - anyone else - had brought up the same concern?
Would Moses have listened?
Would I?
"What you are doing is not good." (Exodus 18:17)
Jethro's simple statement should have been self-evident. Hundreds of thousands of Israelites, and only one judge to hear their cases?

It’s an automated factory. It’s a supercomputer. We can’t make one, with all our knowledge and technology.
People pretending to be serious scientists say this was created by lightning striking a mud puddle. That’s what they still teach in school.
Had unveiled again, like so many prophets but with the cosmic authority of which they were mere messengers, the bedrock of our reality. The only possible accounting for meaning. The source of our life forever.
@Huff4Congress Makes me grateful for how my pastor handled the assassination and its immediate fallout, in this clip. The whole sermon is worth watching.

@zugzwanged This issue intensifies when the music coming from the stage drowns out the congregation completely - turning the service itself into an experience of private musical consumption, rather than of corporate worship.
