The Work for #LongCOVIDAwareness Month Begins Now!
March is #LongCOVIDAwareness Month and what we build in February shapes what’s possible in March.
We’re proud to launch the #LongCOVIDAwareness Month 2026 Preparation Guide which is a coordinated roadmap designed to help our community prepare early, pace sustainably, and take meaningful action together. This will be further developed into a completed Long COVID Awareness Participation Guide throughout the rest of February.
Prepare in February. Execute in March.
February is our foundational month. Outreach and preparation now opens doors and preserves spoons and health for sustained visibility and action in March, especially for Long COVID Awareness day (3/15) and Long COVID Awareness Week (3/15-21).
We encourage the Long COVID community to thoughtfully prioritize spoons for the actions and moments that will have the greatest impact.
1. Send letters in February to help secure meetings, commitments, and meaningful visibility in March. You can also begin coordinating with others in your state to request and organize meetings with policymakers.
2. Draft your Long COVID Awareness Day and Week posts now so they are ready to publish in March with minimal effort.
3. Participate in our coordinated social media actions March 15–21 (Long COVID Awareness Day & Week). We’ve created downloadable and printable posters (including materials for kids) to make participation simple and accessible.
4. Save the date for Topic Days and help amplify our daily Fact of the Day throughout March by liking, sharing, and reposting.
Kick off Long COVID Awareness Month on March 1 by updating your (new!) profile picture frame and posting throughout the month using #LongCOVID and #LongCOVIDAwareness.
Every action counts, from a single share or teal light in your home, to organizing meetings with decision-makers, to standing visibly with a Street Team. Small and large efforts together create real impact.
Long COVID is ongoing. So is our commitment to visibility, prevention, and patient-led action. Let’s move into March organized, unified, and paced.

“PM&R is the steward of subtle.”
Dr. @cbivanhoe’s words at #AAPMR2025 captured what we do so well: noticing the nuanced shifts, the quiet recoveries, and the progress that hides in the gray zones. Recovery isn’t always loud, but it’s always meaningful.

The food options that patients get in the hospital are unhealthy. And the majority of food options in the hospital physicians’ lounge are also unhealthy. Make that make sense.
💚 May: Mental Health Awareness Month
#MentalHealth is inseparable from physical healing. In PM&R, we care for the whole person — not just the diagnosis.
This May, we stand united in destigmatizing mental health and supporting patients, providers, and the entire rehab team.
Honored to serve on the @AOCPMR Digital Multimedia Committee and help promote the field of physiatry! Excited to dive deeper and continue learning all I can about this incredible specialty! 🤗
