@amt0407 @Yoder Hey @amt0407, great ?. Looks like NW's dashboard is taking a rolling average of new cases / rolling average of new tests. We are taking a total pandemic cases / total pandemic tests. There's is much better for where a zip stands. I've been meaning to swap out what we are showing.

@ChaseTrax @MaryAnnAhernNBC @LaurenUnderwood @JimOberweis AP stopped updating votes in this race 11/7. They will update anew after mail-in deadline of 11/17.

That means the interim updates won't appear on any site that uses AP exclusively. @DecisionDeskHQ does its own counting so that's why they have latest.

@joel_inwood @ChiTribGraphics Great question @joel_inwood & #ChiHackNight Our original thinking was to use a tile set that allowed the data to be the most prominent visual element. Some can get quite busy. I think street names would be useful in this case, especially when zoomed in. @ChiTribGraphics

@forestgregg @tribapps @merbroussard Parts of the crime app could be very useful and I probably could port it over to a public github for anyone who wanted to mess with it or crib from it.

I think we have to take the responsibility to think like archivists along with all the other stuff we are trying to balance.

@forestgregg @tribapps @merbroussard I know it's a struggle for us daily to be thoughtful about the procedural backbone of our work: documentation, workflow, archiving.

Too often we are hurrying up and getting stuff done. And those shortcuts end up hurting us down the line.

@EricTendian Hi @EricTendian, thanks for the question. The pipeline that ingested and transformed city and Chicago Tribune data corrupted and when we went under the hood there had been so many repairs and add-ons over the years it was not possible to fix.

@EricTendian We relaunched sites tracking homicides and shooting victims (https://t.co/qHDfe7JLya) and (https://t.co/FampQ9AzZQ) and are working on a site that does some of the stuff with city data on the previous version of the crime site.
