Clear slap on the face but it's "crime against humanity" spare us some shame, our goal also got disallowed last game. I think refereeing is not too bad
It’s literally just because someone randomly made up that Ronaldo loves Palestine like 15 years ago and that Messi’s a hardcore Zionist and these young Muslims just ran with it
(🌕) People close to Messi say he never took playing World Cup 2026 for granted. After winning the World Cup in 2022, he honestly believed that was the end of his World Cup career.
As the tournament got closer, Messi wanted to prove something to himself: that he was still capable of making the difference for Argentina at the highest level. The people around him thought that was crazy that Messi needed to prove himself.
For Messi, though, it wasn’t about his reputation or everything he had done in the past. He wanted to earn his place in the squad based on his current level and performances.
In the end, Messi’s goal was simple: to prove that he still had what it takes to lead Argentina on the biggest stage.
At Inter Miami CF, everything has been focused on helping Messi stay in top shape as he approaches 39 years old. Argentina’s physio, Walter Insaurralde, also works with him there. Messi has followed a strict training program with strength work, sprint exercises, and fitness training to keep his body at its best. @TheAthleticFC 🚨🇦🇷
There's one scenario of events where Messi will be playing for Miami until he's like 43-44 and will go to history books as this beast that didn't care about ageing.
🚨 Do you intend to keep playing for a few more years?
💭 Leo Messi: "Yes, yes... I will continue for some time, as long as I can contribute, feel good physically, and help my teammates... I will keep playing."
🚨⚪️ Marc Cucurella on playing with Vini Jr: “I do NOT care if he doesn't track back, or doesn't help defensively”.
“Let him stay fresh ALL GAME so he can score goals, I will do ALL THE DIRTY WORK for him”.
@theoldzealand That's what people are missing. Uzbekistan is not one of the teams that qualified solely due to the added slots. They have come VERY close in the past even with 32 teams. And they will be staying in the WC. Much better than teams like Qatar
Tough game for Uzbekistan after such a good effort against Colombia
They're going to be a World Cup regular now though, expect them to keep getting better, especially with the amount they're investing in development
I am hating everyone who is hating Uzbekistan.
Like chill, it is our first ever WC, and we deserved to be there.
Just cuz u did not watch Uzbekistan in qualifiers don't mean we do not deserve it!
@lospatheticos@8bdrssss I don't think we could've got any points, but we put on so poor performance. We have creative attacking power, we could've scored at least a goal or two, but again, Cannavaro didn't want to risk anything.
People piling in on Uzbekistan after a heavy defeat forget this is their first @FIFAWorldCup.
🇯🇵 and 🇰🇷 are now established World Cup nations, but Japan lost all three games on debut in 1998, while South Korea lost 9-0 and 7-0 in 1954 and still failed to win on the 1986 return.
This 48-team format has ruined the World Cup.
Teams like Iraq, Uzbekistan, Jordan, Qatar, Curaçao, and Haiti simply don’t belong on football’s biggest stage.
🇺🇿 Have to admit despite Uzbekistan losing both of their games at the World Cup I’ve been super impressed by 18-year-old Bekhruz Karimov.
An RB/RWB who has even played as a CB in a back three.
Very technically secure and athletic. Has an extremely powerful shot on him and he’s composed on the ball.
Came up against one of the most in-form wingers in the world in Luis Díaz and then the best LB in the world in Nuno Mendes in the first two games and more than held his own.
Made 15 recoveries, participated in 34 ground duels (so very active) and completed the most dribbles in both the games (6) he played in.
There’s a really interesting profile there.
Expect a lot of clubs to be looking at him. A bargain to be had.
Asian nations will never go far if they keep disrespecting their own.
Timur Kapadze took Uzbekistan to the World Cup only to be told he would be Cannavaro’s “assistant”.
What did they expect would happen with Cannavaro in charge?
