I think we should build 20-30 SMRs (Small Modular Reactors) near the coastlines of Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, California, Oregon,Washington Alaska and Hawaii. Near these SMRs, build desalination plants . Both the SMR and the connected Deslaination Plant will run 24/7/365. Then we can decrease the water taken from the Colorado River such that it may possibly recover. Florida will cease drawing the water from the aquifer. Then we would have water to grow crops in California, Texas and Florida. We could begin to pump water INTO the aquifer under the plains that is in danger of disappearing entirely.
We can do this, and the payoffs will begin IMMEDIATELY. Once the payback has been reached, from then on, for a hundred years, we would have inexpensive energy, and the water would be provided by this cheap energy. I really believe we should do this. It is a win/win/win.
Here is an unexpected , added saving grace. The disposal of the extra-salty can be discharged into the Gulf stream which is experiencing so much added fresh water around Greenland that it could cause the Atlantic Meridiontal Overturning Circulation (AMOC) to shut down, this addition of ultra-concentrated saltiness could assist the AMOC in staying active.
Someone check this out. Am I just being stupid? This seems to me to be a wonderful solution.
We could be operational within 3 years for a pair of these ie an SMR and a desalination plant. There would be plenty of spare electrical power, after the SMR powered the plant.

What would be your answer if you divided 80 by 4, then added 40? That would be 60. Think about it. Oh... since 4 is 16 times the size of 1/4, if you multiply 20 by 16, you get 320. Add 40 to 320, you get 360. So, more than 1 way to get the correct answer. Try using .25 instead of 1/4. Thne use long division... you move the decimal point 2 places to the right to end up with 25. Then you move the decimal point of 80 two places to the right also... 8000 divided by 25 is 320. Add 40...360. Just trying to help.

@wydjasonX I don't know if others check their work, but another thing I learned in 8th grade algebra, was to check your work. So, you put the 81 in there and see if it works. If you add -7 to both sides you get the square root of "s" is 9. The square root of 81 is 9. So there ya go.
