My initial observations from Apple Vision Pro after my 1st 2 hours:

1. I have super ADHD… I thought being able to have screens everywhere would turn my world into a cosmic ballet of distractions… but it might actually be the opposite? 🤔👇

Surprisingly, turning the Digital Crown to blur out my real-world chaos was like finding a secret button to mute the universe's background noise. Suddenly, my eyes weren't doing a frantic dance between the urgent glow of my monitor and the accusing stare of unopened mail, neglected sticky notes, and the personal museum of clutter I've curated.

It was just me and 'the monitor,' in a bubble of Zen-like concentration. It was nice. We’ll see if that continues to be the case.

2. I watched the last 30 mins of Avengers: Endgame… WOW. If you’re watching a movie alone, does a better viewing experience exist?!?!

Best seats in the house for a screen bigger than most movie theaters?!?! No talkers distracting me… no movie texterszz with bright phones… no bright EXIT signs… just darkness all around me… and OMG the 3D… 3D movies at a movie theater have never been a good experience… dim images, smudged lenses, etc…

…but Vision Pro might actually make 3D movies… a preferred experience??!?!?!?! I need to try Avatar.

P.S. of course I cried again when Tony hugs Spider-Man when he blips back. Crying inside a headset is weird lol.

3. I think Apple may have solved one of the largest problems that has plagued “daily active use” on all headsets that came before it.

As impressive as the Meta Quest 3 has been, I often hesitate quickly strapping it on because I almost always have to rescan the room I’m in, or move furniture back to where it was in the last scan… The Apple Vision Pro “just works”… put it on. That’s it.

I can freely walk around the entire house safely… not just the preselected boundaries I selected.

On a quest I either have to decide to go on Do Not Disturb mode to have uninterrupted time with the headset on… or I have to remove the headset for something as simple as reading a text message… So I’ll often land on “I don’t have time to strap on the Quest right now.”…

Vision Pro removes an immense amount of friction that makes the decision of quickly strapping it on an easy one. Plus not having to grab 2 hand controllers to use it removes even MORE friction.

4. Spacial Photos/Videos captured with the headset definitely bring you back to a moment far more effectively than a normal photo/video… but since most of us won’t be capturing memories by strapping on big headsets… I’ll have to wait and see if spacial videos captured on my iPhone work as effectively. And how building this into @1SecondEveryday would look/feel like.

5. Today our phones take remarkably high quality photos and videos, but we almost entirely look at them on these tiny phone screens.

We share them on social networks to be seen by others on equally tiny screens… swiping thru my photos and videos on a GIGANTIC retina level screen felt like an incalculable unlock for a decade of captured memories. So many details I’ve never noticed before in every photo… I didn’t know I wanted this.

6. Lastly… OMGGGGG building little animated LEGOs that are literally sitting on my coffee table… with just my fingers!!! Felt like real magic. I was in Awe. No YouTube video will ever give some of these experiences justice.
