I'm proud to be a female author in education. I'm grateful for the people that have influenced & inspired my thinking & practice, I'm grateful for the readers that have taken time to read my book(s) & those that have left a review or given me direct feedback. Headship isn't for me, my career progression isn't the traditional leadership route & that's great because it's what works for me & my family. ❤️
🧵Following on from @adrianweckler article in the @Independent_ie yesterday I decided to act as an #lceconomics student using the paid version of @ChatGPTapp looking for help prepare some diagrams for a research study (currently worth 20%) of the #lceconomics exam or to revise.
Both of these things help reduce my own cognitive load in the lesson so I can focus on the content, how I deliver the question (clearly, pause, to all), and how I orally model the types of answer I want to receive.
This is the single most important thing many teachers still need to do to increase thinking, and tackle passive learning.
Two things have made my practice more effective:
1. Ensuring I prepare good questions in advance.
2. Using random name selector on GC so I catch all.
This is the first time I wrote about pair-share: 2012. Been banging on about it ever since.

@MrLeeBates@researchED1@olicav@MrGoodwin23@KateJones_teach@NLad84@BrewEdClee Still takes ages though (this is years in the making, and not complete yet!) and I dread to think of ECT’s trying to make all their diagrams from scratch in this way!! This is what motivates me to share them! Hopefully I save someone else some time!!
@MrLeeBates@researchED1@olicav@MrGoodwin23@KateJones_teach@NLad84@BrewEdClee Thank you! That’s very kind of you to say! After some very shoddy diagram drawing earlier in my career I realised I had to raise my game. Has always been technically tricky and time consuming to create econ diagrams on a PC, but using Keynote on iPad has really helped.
