@J5ger@things_sox If Hays/Pereira ever get healthy and/or Braden eventually called up, my hope is that Antonacci can spend more time at 2B. An Ant/Meidroth platoon would put up the best 2B production in the league. Both have heavy platoon splits.
@untoldchicago So why can't Luther be WR1 from the slot?
I'm not really arguing for Luther over Rome, I'm just pointing out that Luther playing in the slot doesn't disqualify him from being the team's top WR.
@cdcole55 At least one of Vargas/Montgomery will get in, but maybe not both. It might depend on whether they consider McGonigle to be a SS or 3B.
They're competing not only with Witt and Ramirez (likely voted in as starters), but also Rocchio, Jung, and Caminero.
@SoxGeo18@MrDelicious13 This doesn't even count his excellent defense in CF.
I'll admit that I didn't expect him to last more than a couple weeks after he made the OD roster, but he has been one of the biggest surprises of the season at their biggest position of need.
@BearinVegas@ChiSoxFanMike That's true that Braden will provide a power bat in the OF, so maybe I'm just being greedy. But corner OF power should come pretty cheap, and the payroll is still low, so it shouldn't be a problem to add there.
@StonecoldSxnick@djj0404 Braden is a switch hitter. He isn't going to be platooned.
I expect Braden to be in CF against LHP. If not, Grichuk will still be in the lineup in LF or at DH.
@StonecoldSxnick I don't think they want to promote him for the gauntlet of a schedule over the next few weeks. Better to ease his transition into the majors against lesser pitching.
@TimPlsRetire@comiskeydog1 Just realized that Meidroth is 2nd in the AL in fWAR, and the only guy above him is Jazz who has a 98 wRC+. That shows the sorry state of the position more than anything.
@Noahp245 This is fine given who Venable has to work with. The top of the order is strong against a LH starter.
Colson will be a dangerous pinch hitter at some point in the game.
