Civilian families pay the highest price after a month of indiscriminate warfare in, on and from Lebanon.

57 Lebanese first responders have been killed, vital bridges used to flee have been destroyed, and lives are being shattered across the country.

More than one million people have been displaced. Families have fled again and again, and entire communities are trapped in fear, loss, and exhaustion.

There is no end in sight. Yet even as needs surge, the humanitarian response is only one-third funded.

In southern Lebanon, an Israeli ground invasion and extensive destruction will isolate vulnerable communities and prevent families from returning home.

This is a humanitarian crisis spiralling by the day. All parties must de-escalate now.

NRC teams and partners are supporting displaced people with emergency relief and racing against time to turn classrooms into basic sleeping spaces, while providing basic education and trauma care to children.

We need funding to scale up the response.

We need protection of civilians according to international humanitarian law.

Lebanon cannot be left to face this crisis alone.

Men när det gäller frivilliga civila insatser i konfliktområden där barn dödas och svälter, och där ledande experter och länder bedömer konflikten som folkmord, där gör regeringen tvärtom. Det är svårt att få ihop.

Regeringen delade nyligen ut sitt nyinstiftade pris för att hylla svenska civila frivilliga insatser för humanitärt stöd på plats i krigsdrabbade områden – områden som UD avråder från resor till.
Dessa insatser hyllades för sitt mod, engagmenang och för att de inspirerade andra.

Russia’s latest strikes on civilian targets in Kyiv are yet another example of three simple facts:

1. Russia has no intentions of ending this war.
2. Russia has not changed its main strategic aim of destroying the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
3. Russian strikes on civilian targets are a blatant violation of international law.

The only thing that President Putin understands, is power. The only thing that will bring him to the negotiating table is pressure.

Finland will continue to support Ukraine with all necessary diplomatic, financial and military efforts. For as long as it takes.
