🚨HORRIFIC ATTEMPTED BEHEADING ON THE STREETS OF BELFAST 😱
Graphic Warning ⚠️
Just after 10:30pm last night on Kinnaird Avenue, North Belfast, a man was slashed and stabbed in a frenzied attack, with the suspect on top of him on the ground repeatedly hacking at his head and neck in what looked like an attempt to cut his head off. Blood everywhere.
Hero bystanders dragged the attacker off.
The suspect appears to be a foreign national as he is shouting in a foreign language during the assault.
PSNI have one suspect in custody. Victim rushed to hospital with serious head and neck injuries.
@TRobinsonNewEra@bridges2002227 "We were told it could never happen here. We were told not to worry. Then one day the headlines arrived, and the warning became reality."
A 24-year-old Polish tennis player arrived in Paris last week ranked 114th in the world, with no sponsors, no guaranteed income, and no certainty she could even pay for her hotel room.
She had to win three qualifying matches just to enter the French Open main draw. Prize money is only paid at the end of the tournament, so a Polish sports drink brand quietly stepped in and covered her hotel bill.
Her name is Maja Chwalinska. And today, she plays in the French Open final.
Before this tournament, she had won exactly one Grand Slam main draw match in her entire career. She had battled depression so severe that in 2021 she couldn't get out of bed. She underwent knee surgery in 2022. She spent years grinding through small tournaments across Europe just to stay afloat.
Then she arrived in Paris, won three qualifiers, and kept winning. Zheng Qinwen. Elise Mertens. Maria Sakkari. Diana Shnaider. Nine straight matches. One set dropped.
She is now the first qualifier in French Open history to reach the final. The last time a qualifier reached a Grand Slam final, it was Emma Raducanu at the 2021 US Open. Raducanu won.
By simply making the final, Chwalinska has earned more prize money than her entire career combined. The runner-up cheque alone is $1.6 million. If she wins today, she takes home $3.25 million.
One week ago she couldn't pay for her hotel room.
Blows my mind that the US is about to host its second World Cup and a real hotbed of football, the UK, hasn’t been trusted with one since 1966
Joke really, and a corrupt one at that
Winston Churchill drank a quart of scotch every single day. He started in the morning at 7am with weak whisky and soda at breakfast, then kept going.
The man was functionally drunk for the entire Second World War. And yet he still outmaneuvered Hitler, outtalked Roosevelt, and outlasted Stalin. He lived to 90.
When asked about his drinking, he said he had taken more out of alcohol than alcohol had taken out of him.
That's real lifemaxxing, if you ask me.
🚨 LEAKED AUDIO just dropped.
Labour Councillor Susanna Pressel (Oxfordshire) is caught on mic saying:
“Can we trace them on social media?”
“Can Police not lie in wait and nab the B*STARDS?”
…for people putting up British flags 🇬🇧 on lampposts.
Should public officials who call for arrests over flying the national flag be held accountable?
YES or NO?
@crusade_enjoyer I was involved in the restoration of this locomotive a few years ago . It was named by the owner in memory of the fallen RAF men on the beach during the landings.
The fact England hasn’t been selected to stage the World Cup since 1966 is (literally) criminal.
There is not a country on the planet that has a higher volume, value, quality and concentration of World class stadiums, grounds, training facilities, infrastructure, diverse community, culture, history, hospitality and overall fan fever pitch to host the World’s beautiful game.
Due to the FIFA continental host rules we probably can’t expect earlier than a 2042 window. If that’s the case we should go ALL IN for 2042.
A joint England, Wales, Scotland & Ireland bid.
Jesus wept, I’ll be 67. Guess the best things come to those who wait 😬😬😬
