It is now 10 days since the General Election was called. Using @transportgovuk 2022 data (averages), since the election launch, these are the numbers of people with injury trauma from road crashes, causing:
Death = 50 people.
Serious injury = 770 people (most now in an #NHS bed).
Total = 820 families traumatised by largely avoidable crashes with people who were killed or seriously injured.
Plus people with slight injuries = 2,896 (many using #NHS services).
Manifesto commitments to #stoproaddeath from @UKLabour@Conservatives@LibDems = ZERO
I am so sorry to those people who have been in touch having been impacted 🤗 and made worse by political inaction @Wera_Hobhouse@wesstreeting@libdemdaisy@VictoriaAtkins@Mark_J_Harper @LouHaigh @RishiSunak@Keir_Starmer@EdwardJDavey
London’s Brexit loss is mainly New York’s gain.
In prioritising sovereignty over market access, the Government threw the City under the bus!
The City’s interests were almost wholly ignored during the #Brexit withdrawal negotiations, which given that financial services are arguably Britain’s most important industry, generating more than £100bn a year in tax revenues, was a source of amazement both to European negotiators, and indeed to City practitioners.
London’s future is regrettably much more likely to be as a mere subsidiary to Wall Street than a credible rival to it.

At a @japanhouseldn presentation about the 500kph SCMaglev that's being built in Japan, they showed a slide that got a laugh - what it would be like if the UK built one.
The nimbies would still object of course.
The Dutch Grand Prix is happening this weekend in Zandvoort, and spectators can only arrive by bicycle!
With Mobian's Park + Bike service, people can rent a bike for the last mile. Bicycles can be parked for free in guarded bike racks.

What’s really annoying about PGMOL is that they just seem to be completely incapable of anything other than 1000% or 0%. Every time there’s a directive nobody seems to be capable of using it judiciously. Then games get ruined and it’s all totally stopped. Just piss poor.
Remember, Paris wasn’t “always this way.”
It wasn’t even this way in late 2019 when I was there last.
Just a few years ago, all of #Paris was choking in car traffic.
This is new. This is leadership.
Cities are a result of choices.

@peterwalker99 According to the IFS, the ongoing fuel-duty freeze is costing us £13.9bn this year.
That’s an insane amount of money which could transform active travel, but instead we get this rubbish. (The FD freeze since 2010 means UK CO2 emissions are 5% higher than they would have been.)
Air quality expert @imperialcollege hits back at politicians opposed to Ulez expansion, telling them: "Go along to your local hospital and go into the respiratory wards and see the kids with asthma."

@ModgeChris@thomasforth@nickbowes1975 A fantastic project to work on. Real clarity of vision and leadership, with a great team pulling in the same direction. I haven't seen that much elsewhere since.... There is hope though. Project Oval has potential if govt commitment is maintained through to delivery
"Boring’s only tunnel open to the public is a 1.6-mile “loop experience” under the Las Vegas Convention Center. There, Teslas with hired drivers ferry convention-goers through neon-lit white tunnels at speeds of about 30 miles an hour." https://t.co/FdZV2fzpWf
