@UtahGroyperHuff @25YearsAgoLive Never a member, much less a grand wizard, but definitely used the authority of his influence to get them to disband. He didn’t have to be a member to do that; he was nearly as influential in western Tennessee as Robert E. Lee was in Virginia.

I pause today for the purpose of remembering the lives of those C.S.S. Alabama sailors that were lost in battle against the U.S.S. Kearsarge off the coast of Cherbourg, France, on July 19, 1864.

The naval battle lasted for approximately one hour. After roughly 60-minutes of exchanging artillery fire, the Alabama began to sink and eventually struck its colors; the Kearsarge continued firing, however, until a white flag was raised.

Using information from the CSS Alabama Association, the following is a list of those who were killed in the battle and those who drowned as a result; each one is listed by name first, then rank/position.

@Lorelei1861 To be clear, the Forrest's were removed by loving hands, despite being forced to do so by those with hate filled hearts. The SCV, using a trusted funeral director, was in charge of the disinterment; the process was done as respectfully as possible under the circumstances.

@WanjiruNjoya I was there the day they were reverently placed in the ground at Elm Springs. As a representative of my SCV Camp and as a descendant of one who "rode with Forrest" at Chickamauga, it was my honor & privilege to drive from Detroit, Michigan, to be present that day in Tennessee.
