Our new paper is out (open access: https://t.co/lSvhwwX5ew)! We studied the risk of relapse and treatment safety associated with different doses of commonly used antipsychotics and mood stabilizers in bipolar disorder.

Personal opinion: we are using quetiapine way too often even though we know its poor effectiveness & increased risk of cardiovascular and metabolic adverse effects (weight gain, hypercholesterolemia, type 2 diabetes etc.).

TL;DR The majority of patients with bipolar disorder do not use their medications as prescribed. More focus should be given to the reasons why patients choose not to use their medications. Patient-specific risk factors should be assessed. (11/11)
