@NextRoundLive@slmandel@ReceDavis More teams means bigger ratings. More teams will have an opportunity for that Cinderella season. Meaning more fans will be watching more games. They can pretend all they want about the purity of the game. This is a money grab. And I’m all in for it!! More football is a win/win…
The worst part about Jay Hill leaving is the AP poll will use it as an excuse to not put BYU in the pre season rankings and it’ll take another six weeks to get ranked again
I went back and looked at the last decade of where the lowest ranked P4/P5 1-loss team finished the regular season and here are the results:
2025: BYU (11 Projection)
2024: Indiana (8)
2023: Alabama (8)
2022: Ohio State (4)
2021: Notre Dame (5)
2020: NA (Covid)
2019: Baylor (7)
2018: Ohio State (6)
2017: Georgia (6)
2016: Washington (4)
AVERAGE ranking: 6
BYU is being absolutely robbed.
BYU has now beaten:
• 9-2 #12 Utah
• 8-3 Arizona
• 7-4 Iowa State
• 7-4 TCU
• 7-4 Cincinnati
• 7-4 East Carolina
Over half of their wins are against bowl eligible opponents.
Top 7 team.
This may be a hot take but I don’t think any conference should have more than 3 teams in the playoffs. The point of the playoffs is to find the best team and if you finish 4th or 5th in your own conference then you’re not the best team.
It’s the SEC and Big Ten’s fault for taking so many other conferences big budget teams. If we cap it at 3 teams per conference maybe teams would be more willing to go to other conferences and spread out the power some.
If we had a unified TV deal for all of college football like how the pro leagues do it then teams wouldn’t need to move to other conferences for more money.
After this Cincinnati game, BYU will have played a stretch of 6 straight bowl-eligible teams. With the average number of wins of those teams being 7.2 wins; 4 of those 6 games on the road; and their only loss being to #5 Texas Tech, while beating #12 Utah who has blown out everyone else.
At Arizona (7-3)
Home vs Utah (8-2)
At Iowa State (6-4)
AT Texas Tech (10-1)
Home vs TCU (6-4)
At Cincinnati (7-3)
Give the team credit. @CFBPlayoff@espn
Only one complaint about attending the BYU home game:
I couldn't buy a cougartail and a chocolate milk at the same concession stand. I had to go to two separate stops.
