Former Little League 1st-base coach and @provincesports macher, father of a Portuguese Water Dog and two cool teens. And, yes, was 1970’s Bay Baby of the Year.
@Freedland Thank you, Jonathan, and thanks to @guardian, for running the excerpt today. Just read it at 4 am in Vancouver, waiting to get on a ferry. Cannot wait for the book!
Hey @JeffMarek, I love your show. But even just once it would be awesome if @FriedgeHNIC didn’t sound like he was calling in while swimming underwater or perhaps walking from cave to cave in Kandahar. There’s great new technology that can make Elliotte understood!
During my decade running @provincesports, Steve and @htsumura enjoyed a quiet battle over who could produce the most bylines. Even when Steve was sick the first time, he didn’t want to take time off because there were so many stories to tell. Selfless, tough bugger. Go Steve!
We have resurrected the Crush The Tumour With Humour blog. You can guess the unfortunate reasons, though. Cancer has returned for a third time. Prognosis seems good. Radiation starting next week with @BCCancer. #Cancer

Is it prudent to ask an 85-year-old taxi driver to not flip through and read a map book while he’s driving? I don’t want to seem rude but would also prefer not to die in this fashion. The story won’t start, “Jonny Mac died doing what he loves.”
@patersonjeff But when it comes to contract time the team will claim that the second half of a lost season was basically garbage time. That strong performances are meaningless when there was nothing to gain beyond playing out the string.
Dear Mr. MP, thank you for the beautiful 2023 calendar. For more than a century, MPs have been sending calendars to their constituents. A time-honoured tradition. Only question: Why were the calendars sent in mid-February? We are well over 10 per cent into 2023!
@patersonjeff When Boeser had a small sample size of games to start his career, at the end of 2016-17, he impressed. The club played it down, hinted that the games were meaningless. A baffling response. Let’s remember that if Tocchet somehow “succeeds” … with the team’s season in the tank.
@CanuckClay Clay, I too was lucky enough to be at Bruce’s first game. It was, quite simply, a joyous affair. I’ve rarely had that much fun at a Canucks game. The very first “Bruce, there it is” chant and the feeling that, for at least one night, things were good. Seems like a long time ago.
Great piece of marketing received by email from the #canucks tonight. No shame in framing a game between the worst team in the Eastern Conference and a team that would be tied for second-worst if it were in the East as Islanders-Oilers circa 1983.
In the past two-and-a-half weeks I’ve been invited to two Canucks games that they’ve lost by a combined score of 10-2. Both times the host has apologized profusely for the team’s performances, lacklustre and disinterested. Poor guy, paying to watch that crap.
