The definitive guidebook will be published by @devonfirebooks, following the production of the series from inception through to the various attempts to get a spin-off launched, delving into the making of each episode and the globetrotting filming that brought it to life.
In my idle moments, I got Dzine AI to animate loads of Doctor Who book covers, then asked Suno AI to write songs about them. I love this soul tune, about the inspirational effect on 70s kids of Target paperbacks by Terrance Dicks et al... Longer video in link 👇
50 years ago today (30 June 1975), NZ's second TV channel commenced broadcasts, albeit in Auckland and Christchurch only. Everything was now in colour (but we only had a b/w set). One of big-ticket highlights was Colditz, but best of all for me was a repeat of Thunderbirds!
I don’t understand the criticism aimed at the modern Doctor Who regeneration effects. Personally, I think they’re so effective they should be retroactively added to all classic stories as the standard.
@ChrisChapman81 It was November 1977; Williams and Baker went to West Germany and visited British Forces schools in Celle and Fallingbostel. They also went to a tank training facility, and attended a publicity function at the British Forces TV station.
@Dalek6388@UnLink250 The Daleks appeared on The Mike Douglas Show, broadcast (live?) from Cleveland Ohio on 5 June 1966. (This ep might still exist; there are lots of clips from 1966 editions of TMDS on YouTube.)
We've finished our work on the Ngāruawāhia section of the Waikato Expressway, and the speed limit is now 110km/h. If you're travelling north of Hamilton you now have a clear run on the expressway. We know our work has been disruptive – thanks very much for your patience.
@la_riviere Brilliant as always. But why does Scott push/pull the levers when TB1 gets to the bottom of the ramp? IS it to open activate the pool hatchway? Or is it a brake? What happens if he forgets or mistimes it? Why isn't it automated? I need to know!
@CleverPrime@SAndreyechen@drwhopodcasters Davison is a musician, so it may have been something he composed. But there's no music copyright noted for the 'tune' or to him as 'composer' in the PasB. Maybe four short blasts on a recorder is not sufficient to count as a tune that can be copyrighted?
@NothingLane I have a copy of Nation's original draft of 'The Invaders' which was rewritten as 'Breakdown'. But that's S1 so prob too late to include that now.
@trenowden@philnewmandsign Many of the programmes BBC Enterprises sold overseas were selected by them *because* they were big hits in the UK, so yes, these high-rating Light Entertainment, Comedy and Drama were always offered to the colonies, thus increasing their survival as film copies.
