In bits here but what a manager and, most importantly, what a human being. Changed everything, gave a club, community and people around it more than he can probably ever know. Just want the absolute best for him in everything that comes next.
📰 Kieran McKenna will step down as Ipswich Town Manager after five seasons at the club.
Kieran has made the decision to step away from football management and dedicate time to his family, having been at the forefront of one of the most successful eras in the club’s history.
Can't downplay what Kieran McKenna did this season – yes Ipswich well funded but had to build new team in mid air and simultaneously instil resilience needed to get through a Championship grind. Lots of noise all year but he just calmly steered them home. An absolute class act.
Kieran McKenna….
- One promotion to The Championship
- 𝗧𝘄𝗼 promotions to the Premier League
- Over 350 goals scored
- Derby double over Norwich
- Four manager of the month awards
- One manager of the season award
In under five years…
From everybody at #ITFC, thank you.
@Stuart_Watson I'm commenting after we've won, but I've thought for a while that come the end of the season, the deep squad and rotation policy will actually put us in good stead. We found a gear today that Hull (a less deep squad) didn't.
@IpswichTown Good luck, Chappers. More than most the embodiment of our 22-24 double promotion era. Hope to see you back but glad you've gone somewhere you love
Following back-to-back promotions to the top tier of English football, today's result confirms our relegation from the Premier League.
We've fought all season with you always behind us, Town fans. 💙
