Happy Canada Day!

[Brian Tyler Cohen @briantylercohen]

It took Congress 5 minutes to come together to unanimously protect SCOTUS justices from peaceful protestors but we can’t find a single Republican who thinks 19 dead children is worth changing *anything* over.

[Gary Chalmers @GaryChalmersSki]

I think Elon Musk is about to find out the hard way that PPC voters don’t buy electric cars.

[Doug Ford @fordnation]

Today, I am using my authority as Premier of Ontario to declare a state of emergency in our province.

We must come together as Canadians. We must heal the divide that is fracturing our society.

To the protestors: It’s time to end these occupations and go home.

[Ian Hanomansing @ianhanomansing]

For those of you who care about journalism: Just got out of a long, thoughtful meeting where we discussed our coverage of mandates, protests and the pandemic. No question this is happening in every newsroom. It's never been more important.

[Amy jones @Jonsiebball]

Worth a watch….very thoughtful perspective

[Global BC @GlobalBC]

As facts are lost in the noise, disruptive protests against Canada’s COVID-19 mandates are also boiling threats against journalists covering the demonstrations. Global National’s @DFriesenGlobal sifts through the violent threats against the press.

“In every single province, with the exception of Alberta, Canadians say the clean energy sector is more important to the economy than oil and gas,” said @trevormelanson.

These acts of intimidation on innocent Canadians trying to protect themselves and their families during a pandemic are exactly why the protesters will never get what they want

[Bill Good @billgood_news]

The only freedom I’ve lost is to Covid, not any government. I’m fully vaccinated, go to the odd restaurant. Happy to mask, see vaccinated friends in small groups, hope to see UK family by summer. Have freely chosen to restrict travel. Love and respect HCW

[Jared Jones @jones2emit0]

I’m still trying to wrap my head around this. Russia Women’s hockey team refuses to deliver their Covid test results to Canada. Canada them says they’ll play if both teams are masked. Russia then ditches their masks after the second period?? WtF?

[Richard Dettman @rwdettman]

Day’s not over but I’ll risk it and say Saturday has been won by:

[Bruce A. Heyman @BruceAHeyman]

Under no circumstances should any group in the USA fund disruptive activities in Canada. Period. Full stop.

[Sue Andrews @sjandrews76]

Nurses rock. Thank god there are so many dedicated, selfless, brave people willing to do this gut-wrenchingly difficult job.

[MaggieK 🇨🇦 @MaggieKeresteci]

I don’t feel controlled by government when I wear a mask or get #COVID19Vaccine any more than I do wearing a seatbelt, deciding not to drink & drive or stopping at red light. I am vaccinated bc I want to be part of the solution, not part of the problem. The common good matters.

[Brittlestar @brittlestar]

To the ACTUAL Canadian Truckers out there working and keeping the economy rolling, thank you.

There is more love than hate in the world.

[Franca (Ph.D.) 🇨🇦 @Frajud12]

@gail_sloane @Justin_Ling Quite a few restaurant owners in downtown Ottawa said that they're closing for the weekend: employees are afraid to go to work. When one's "liberty" infringes on others earning a living, it's not about liberty.

[iacovos michael 🇨🇦 @IacovosMichael]

Over 90% of truckers are vaccinated.
Over 90% of teachers are vaccinated.
Over 90% of nurses are vaccinated.
Over 90% of doctors are vaccinated.
Over 90% of CANADIANS are vaccinated.

THANK YOU 🇨🇦

[Dan_GT2 @Dan_GT2]

I resent anti-vaxxers referring to the ‘Freedom Convoy’ drivers as “heroes”. There is nothing heroic about people who choose personal right over the health of our children, elderly, family, friends and communities.

These drivers and their supporters demonstrate selfishness.
