@davidjohnsonTF Cheers David. I’ve just realised you’re with Timeform (actually had a trial of the TF data back in 2020). Found some anomalies as part of my data cleansing process - should have charged a consultancy fee haha!
Anyhow, I’ve quit once before and then Cheltenham lured me back! 🙈🧐
An update for my 3 or 4 racing followers.
I’ve totally lost interest in the sport and can’t see myself posting about it again any time soon. Feel free to unfollow if you only want racing on your timeline 👍
I think it’s only fitting that my last post related to racing should be my finest moment as an owner, when Buster Edwards quite literally finished like a train and robbed them on the line - at one of my local tracks too 🥳
Buster Edwards stuns racing fans by pulling off daring Haydock heist. Watch a full replay of his remarkable success plus read the reaction of his trainer and jockey ⬇

@davidjohnsonTF But a combination of poor/unlucky ownership choices, some dev choices i made, and to top it all the data service i used stopped providing some crucial data, just everything seemed to fall apart at the same time. Took a break and realised i don’t miss it.
@davidjohnsonTF Mixed reasons David. I actually got into racing through data. I love data - Made a career from it. Got into racing because of the interesting data. Enjoyed looking for “the edge”, created my own race cards with some fabulous features. Was hooked. even got into 100% ownership. 1/2
@AaronWar_ That’s called back fitting a system and it won’t stand the test of time with a larger data set. The next failure you get you will need a further caveat. It’s currently A with the caveat of B but within your lifetime you’ll have added plenty more caveats to your rule.
@kerry54371189@Dagi_7 The hand of God too. Another one that VAR missed
I think the problem with the current implementation of VAR is they are still being very subjective with things and when something is 50-50 (or 60-40) they shouldn’t overrule the ref. Maradona’s and Lampard’s were clear and obvious
@BasedDeptGnrl Norway player is in front of where the ball is dropping, unless he has a neck like Inspector Gadget he is never getting that ball in a million years.
Well, I think broadly Norway were the better team last night having put the ball in the net three times and were only awarded one - and it’s evident England are perfectly comfortable with cheating their way to victory - particularly Harry Kane in two games
Bookies got the money last night with the draw, but England should have been turfed out of the competition
But Argentina will be far too good for them. The betting is a nonsense. With England favourites with that defence?
@mebull@markvalorian Cheers, yeah it was a while ago now when I saw this. It seems that perhaps the amazing ball tech isn’t quite as amazing as they thought!
