Grammy committee members crashing out PUBLICLY over BTS decision before deleting. The comittee being exposed for lying, shocking incompetence and erasure to Asian countries. Major media all around the world reporting about BTS' decision. Artists celebrities creators and businesses praising BTS' decision. Journalists supporting them. Even in tv hosts and presenters criticizing grammys. Other marginalized communities engaging and blowing up the public discussion even further. Kpop companies acting in panic. The industry behaving as if BTS stole something from them.
They said nobody will care. Meanwhile BTS caused upheaval so huge that even we didn't anticipate.
They tried to say BTS is irrelevant when everything happening for the past 3 days proves that they might be the most relevant artist in the world right now.
"They called it diversity. But paradoxically, diversity became a label, a tag that permanently keeps certain artists outside mainstream." β Chase Kang , journalist from Rollingstone Korea.
Her words are a dead giveaway. Her trashing on Asians and telling Asians how they should feel about this, belittling BTS and shading it as ignorant, all because they have a different idea of bringing visibility to Asians then she does. Her denying visibility of Asians - openly claiming there was none so far, erasing everything BTS and others achieved through general field and non-racial categories in all these years. Her gasligthing about eligibility to other categories when Grammys proven repeatedly once segregation category appears, all artists falling related get forcefully recategorized there.
There is so much problematic and tone-deaf things about her posting it's astonishing. And all just feeds the concern we had from the day this category was brought to light - dictating what's Asian and how Asians should be on behalf of them.
