The urgent need for Nigeria’s rebirth to reclaim her lost glory as the Giant of Africa and restore her rightful place in the comity of nations is a burden that has robbed patriotic Nigerians of sleep.
We have, therefore, resolved to know no rest until this burden comes to fruition in the triumph and leadership of His Excellency, Peter Gregory Obi, and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, whom we believe God has chosen for this task, through the vehicle of the NDC, ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
For us, the people of Rivers State, this burden has, over time, metamorphosed into excruciating pain. We are the Treasure Base of the Nation, yet we remain among the most despised and neglected under the present administration. Our collective wealth is plundered by a few, while the overwhelming majority of our people continue to bear the consequences.
For this reason, we are compelled to be at the forefront of this mission as we join hands to:
PURSUE, OVERTAKE AND RECOVER ALL.
Yesterday, by the special grace of God, the NDC in Rivers State became the first to host our Party’s Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates, His Excellency Peter Gregory Obi and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the incoming President and Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to a Town Hall Meeting with the people of Rivers State.
It was an engaging and historic interaction, featuring a robust question-and-answer session in which critical issues confronting our people and nation were discussed. It was an opportunity to articulate the pathways through which we can emerge from this wilderness of despondency, neglect and plunderous setbacks when they assume leadership of our great nation in 2027.
No doubt, when hunger comes, even the blind will run, and the deaf will hear the cries of their stomachs. Sadly, this has become the painful reality of Nigeria today.
It was this reality that brought out a multitude of Rivers people, irrespective of political affiliation or divide, to receive those they believe represent a new possibility for our nation, the possibility of leaders with the vision, capacity and courage to confront Nigeria’s seemingly perpetual challenges.
Three things stood out clearly:
We must get the politics right.
We must get governance right.
And we must get the economics right.
We must build an economy strong enough to lift Nigerians out of the poverty that is destroying the fabric of our society and diminishing the hopes of our people.
As the Leader and Governorship Candidate of the Party in Rivers State, I am deeply grateful to Almighty God for the success of this historic Town Hall Meeting.
I sincerely appreciate our Presidential Candidate, His Excellency Peter Gregory Obi, and our Vice Presidential Candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, for giving us the honour and opportunity to be the first State to host them in this important engagement with the people.
I also appreciate every Rivers citizen who came out, irrespective of political affiliation, to participate in this defining moment. Your presence, your questions, your concerns and your hope for a better Nigeria are a powerful reminder of the responsibility before us.
The journey has begun.
The burden remains.
The mission is clear.
To Pursue.
To Overtake.
And to Recover All.
May God grant us the wisdom, courage and strength to see this mission through.
To God alone be all the glory.
