#Water powered prayer wheels are a common sight in #Bhutan. They represent the powering of the mind of #Buddha and blessing of the water for all life downstream. It's significant when you consider that 50-60% of the country is maintained as forest. Powering a state of mind.
@umairh https://t.co/FtDgGSG4hx Umair, thank you for the thought provoking article. You should check out this project and the work of permaculture practitioners in the deserts. Incredibly important and ahead of these challenges.
I got out my laser level and marked the hill up like a topography map, then used a drone to get an aerial view so I could draw it out. I'll put in #swales planted to be diverse and productive like a library of plant genetics. I made the music. #permaculture#foodforest
The power company came thru and cut the trees down because of the lines so I cleared the brush with a dozer. I put down lots of cover crop afterwards, buckwheat, rye, field peas, clovers, and a scattered straw mulch. Now I'll start a #permaculture design with #swales, #foodforest
Totally amazing story of the reversal of #desertification and pursuit of a rural regenerative economy at a site in Saudi Arabia. #Permaculture is the most important work on the planet. So thankful these ideas are taking root. must watch. https://t.co/aaRNVjoEYV
@globther ice cream bean trees are called that because the pulp in the seed pods tastes like ice cream. They naturally fix nitrogen in area around them so they were planted near the coffee to support their growth in this food forest.
Shade-grown #coffee in a #foodforest using pollarded nitrogen-fixing ice cream bean trees to add fertility. Branches are cut and regrown for mulch to put under fruit or coffee trees. Each time branches are cut the roots also prune adding fertility deep in the soil. #permaculture
@WorldBankSAsia They don't measure their economy by GDP they measure by Gross National Happiness. It's pretty amazing how dense you'd have to be to not understand this primary distinction. The "Forest sector" is just the forest. They sustainably "invest" in their forests by not cutting them down

Ducks gettin busy in the chinampas. The water can be moved from the lotus paddy very simply by adjusting a swivel pipe, which is just a 90 degree pipe fitting that is slipped on and allows you to change the waterโฆ https://t.co/plhtzMfuaW
