ये जुलाई 2024 का केस है, मानसून सेशन चल रहा था।

महिला कांग्रेस की नेशनल प्रेसिडेंट के रूप में मेरी सभी बहनें और मैं जंतर-मंतर पर संवैधानिक लोकतांत्रिक अधिकारों के तहत प्रदर्शन कर रहे थे।

हम महिला आरक्षण लागू करने और महिलाओं की सुरक्षा की मांग कर रहे थे।

उस समय पुलिस ने दबाव में आकर मेरे खिलाफ FIR और चार्जशीट दायर की।

आज पता चला कि मुझे दोषी ठहरा दिया गया है, मगर मैं डरने वाली नहीं हूँ, मुझे जो सजा देनी है दे दो।

ये FIR, मुकदमे भाजपा सरकार के पुराने हथकंडे हैं, जिनसे हम डरने वाले नहीं हैं।

महिलाओं के हक की लड़ाई और मजबूत ही होगी, क्योंकि देश की आधी आबादी हमारे साथ है, हम उनके अधिकार की लड़ाई सड़क से संसद तक लड़ते रहेंगे ।

The Prime Minister has started writing articles in the media trying to project himself as the sole champion of women’s reservation in the Lok Sabha and the Vidhan Sabha from 2029 onwards.

Actually he owes an apology to the women of India. When the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, 2023 was passed by Parliament in 2023 unanimously, the Indian National Congress had demanded its implementation from 2024 itself. But this was not acceptable to the PM who made the reservation dependent on the delimitation and census exercises that he had failed to conduct and then dithered on for many years.

30 months later, facing defeat in the assembly elections - in spite of the Election Commission functioning as a subordinate office of the Union Home Ministry - the PM has changed his mind. He wants us to forget the Census and forget the census-based delimitation on the grounds that it will take too long. This is despite the fact that his Census Registrar has clarified that the results will be out by 2027. It’s a narrative that is based on lies and equivocation, all undertaken with the hope that the women of Tamil Nadu and West Bengal will flock to the BJP. After all, the BJP has no worthwhile narrative on any other issue in these states.

This a U turn by the Modi Government, one that exposes its unwillingness to engage with the opposition and its total lack of planning. That said, Mr. Modi being who is already claiming credit for the U turn as well. There is simply no limit to his hypocrisy and deception. All this is to cover up his monumental failures in governance and severe setbacks to foreign policy.

BJP MP @KanganaTeam remarks on Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi are not just distasteful, they are deeply insulting to the countless women whose voices he has amplified across this country.

Rahul Gandhi is not a manufactured, camera-trained politician. He is a leader who listens without filters, who walks among people without barriers, and who has earned trust the hard way, on the streets, not in studios.

During the Bharat Jodo Yatra, thousands of young women came forward, not because they felt “uncomfortable,” but because they felt heard. They shared their fears, their struggles, their dreams, because they saw in him a rare kind of political empathy that this regime neither understands nor respects.

To reduce that connection to cheap, sexist insinuations says more about the BJP’s mindset than it does about Rahul Gandhi.

This is the difference: one side thrives on manufactured narratives and personal attacks, the other builds politics on human connection and dignity.

India’s women do not need lectures from those who trivialise their voices. They need leaders who stand with them, and @RahulGandhi has consistently done exactly that.
