“They brought back GM Connected and you still complain!” Yes, because this isn’t a GM Connected Mode at all. It’s a single season online versus mode, which isn’t even remotely the same.

Been thinking a bit on the #NHL27 GM Connected news…

We waited 13+ years for the return of GM Connected and after all that time, this has got to be the most barebones mode ever released.

For the last few years, EA has talked about dedicating a team and resources to bringing this mode back. I think it’s fair to not have EVERY Franchise Mode feature in to start (Drafting, Developing, AI controlled teams, etc.) but to have NONE of them is crazy. It’s just impossible to believe this is 1-3 years of work.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited to jump in with friends and viewers. We’ll have a ton of fun moments and great content come from it…but it’s also fair to say people will be disappointed. The community needed and deserved more.

I hope this is truly the start of something great and EA continues building it into the mode we’ve all been asking for. I’m just worried that the lack of features will cause people to quit the mode entirely. Then we’ll hear about how “no one plays it” as it stops getting developer support. A proper GM Connected could be one of the most played modes in the game if done correctly.

Time will tell. Let’s hope for the best.

@TheClapperton You added trades to online versus and are calling it connected franchise. Allow ai teams like every other sports game… I can’t imagine how shameful it is to work at EA Vancouver. Hopefully you just tell people you’re in game design

@TheClapperton @SnipeNScore 😂😂😂 EA Masterclass of EA EAing. Madden has had this since Nam. This was in NHL 14!!!! With so many of these “new features”. Good Christ, if there’s one thing the NHL dev team is good as it’s making me lower my expectations and letting me down. Truest definition of insanity.

@TheClapperton If players don’t age, does that mean no Entry Draft or player development? That’s a huge part of what makes Franchise Mode fun. I get that it’s a long-term project, but this feels like a major piece to leave out.

In all honesty, what's the point of bringing it back then? Not everyone has 32 people to start a franchise with. Some just have 2 or 3 people they want to play with.

Would've been better off not including it at all.

@TacTixHD Yeah thats fine that you don't need 32 guys but why does there need to be limits on it. What if me and my friends want an all Sim league with a 32 team more authentic experience. I shouldn't have to have 32 people or take teams out or move guys to free agency.
