@JayBauman1 Did you see the 4k release coming for Possession? Still waiting to one day see you discuss it with Josh on re:View.

@Mholmannn@laurarw I think the stagnancy is simply due to time, SM has been around long enough now and is universal enough that to stay alive brands have to copy each other. We likely won't see any changes until we transition into an entirely new form of engaging through the internet or elsewhere
@t_lb_t@laurarw I think the act itself of checking an individual's SM account in consideration for hiring is not unethical. It's the how that can become unethical, ideas like the one the article mentions of asking for login credentials, or simply doing a checklist audit of a candidate's profile
@ItalianQueenAri@laurarw When doing academic work I often sit down and do hours of work in one big block, with small breaks scattered throughout. SM would fill one of those gaps if I regularly used it. Any addictive daily routine can impede academic performance.
#ucengl2074 https://t.co/9OGWLTDnPx I'm always harsh on SM, not giving enough credit. What is the most positive or beneficial impact of SM for you?Which of these examples is your favorite? Are there any you hadn't thought of before and will start implementing through SM?@laurarw
@ShakyraDeshae@HuffPostBlog as someone who has always had low self-esteem and severe insecurity issues* I feel it's important for me to clarify that. I don't I think SM induces or manifests low self-esteem in a person. I think it plays a role rather than creating it, even for children raised on SM.
@ShakyraDeshae@HuffPostBlog I feel annoying because I've given this answer so many times already in this class, but I always view SM as an amplifier. As someone who has low self-esteem and severe insecurity issues, using SM usually always triggered and heightened these characteristics of myself
@4ReghansEdu @laurarw The characteristics I would consider most important are maturity and responsibility. Of course there are other factors, but I also feel something unmentioned is that parents have a responsibility to both educate and communicate with their children if they decide to give them one
@Krissy_Marie347@laurarw My personal family relationships haven't been affected. We largely don't use social media, my mom is basically the only one, always posting a litany of photos on facebook. Tho, SM does create an equal balance of drama and elation in all my mom's side of the family (10 siblings)
#ucengl2074 https://t.co/iZ1nHE0Q76 Have you felt controlled by SM like Tristan speaks towards? Using the apps, notification settings, pressures/expectations in culture? Will "stealing attention and scheduling us" move from the SM company missions to their definitions? @laurarw
@noah_bruce01@laurarw What's bizarre to me is that SM companies seem to have made a deliberate choice to make fact-checking a form of censorship. Rather than just creating some kind of a tag that leaves the post in tact, they have overridden the content. They're also jumping the gun, AI is not ready
@paypay717 Unfortunately, it really is almost impossible to measure. I feel that reddit is the model for SM of potential towards the fullest of Good that they can achieve. I hope that other SMs are able to adopt or adapt their models to find a structure of control and stability like reddit.
@jckmd_ @laurarw@everyword This reminded me of a temporal experiment by Sankt-Burchardi-Church. They're playing an organ composition by John Cage that began in 2001, and is supposed to last 639 years. People visit for a meditative, philosophical experience to understanding time, how it defines you, etc.
@jckmd_ @laurarw@everyword For our generation especially, it almost distorts perception of time. I can see who I was materialized through chat conversations and posts from 14. Some things about me have gone almost entirely unchanged. 5 years seems like yesterday, and a month ago can seem like forever.
@mia_petros @laurarw I made efforts to make sure that SM only impacted my relationships positively. When a friend/partner and I were having an issue, I would say that we needed to discuss it in person, not over SM. I think that SM in a way is an amplifier, it increases positive or negative energy.
@musicalshazel @laurarw I'm particularly drawn towards BuzzSumo because I think the name is goofy and I question its motives. It speaks to running out of content, but if your content is dependent on only commenting on trends and the most popular topics, does that speak to the quality of your content?
@lsr305s @laurarw Will quitting even be a notion of question in time? When the automobile first emerged it was resisted and scoffed; when the internet gained traction many businesses delayed in using it. Now both are vital. Will culture reach a place where quitting social media is incomprehensible?
@nataliegalle_uc @laurarw My question here is: "How do we engage in protests and agendas online in a way that DOESN'T detract/distract from these endeavors offline?" The expert speaks to the importance of both, but I feel that culturally when we act online,it leaves our minds and we forget to act offline
