I know there is some overlap between open source and anti-AI activists, but I have a hard time reconciling it. My million+ open source LOC were always intended as a gift to the world. Yes, I would make arguments about how it would strengthen our communities, and the GPL would prevent outright exploitation by our competitors, but those were to allay fears of my partners to allow me to make the gift.

AI training on the code magnifies the value of the gift. I am enthusiastic about it!

Some people do look at open source as a tool for social change, career advancement, or reputation building, but those are all downstream of the gift.

The war against the bureaucracy. The taxpayer pays for their governments, their summits, their NGOs. The bureaucracy has grown so much that not only do they not acknowledge that every single one of their salaries is paid by the taxpayer, but they demonize them as being the problem. The war is not against millionaires or billionaires or anyone who makes their money in the free market; it's against those who enrich themselves at the taxpayer's expense.

X and Instagram both have a well-functioning PWA that is almost indistinguishable from their native apps.

But their PWAs don't work offline...

If you're going to build a web app, make sure it's a freaking good web app.

Otherwise, don't bother.

Native apps have set the standard for over a decade so a sub-standard web app simply won't cut it.

If we want web apps to be taken seriously, we need to take them seriously.

Building virtual sets on top of reality, moving around in them and seeing them transformed entirely with Gen AI. Is this the future? :D

This was quite simple to make actually:

Figmin XR running on my Quest 3, using some models from sketchfab and some custom creations to set-dress my hallway. Filming a small performance of walking through the set and then using Runway Gen 3 to transform that. I'm still missing a lot of control with the AI process, like uploading style frames along the duration of the video.. but overall this is pretty incredible! Can't help but think about how insane it would have been to be able to use Dreams for stuff like this!
