Last week, two powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela. NASA satellites are providing critical support, capturing imagery and data to help teams on the ground assess impacts and guide response efforts.
This map, created with data from the NISAR mission, shows how the quakes shifted the land surface, offering key insights for emergency managers and scientists.
No empatiza.

Andrés Giménez is a True Shortstop 🤘
After being signed at 16 by the NY Mets as an international free agent out of Venezuela in 2015, Gimenez was developed as a shortstop throughout his time in the Mets' minor league system. Before reaching the majors, scouts consistently gave him high marks for his potential at shortstop, rating him strongly on the 20-80 scale:
Defense/Fielding at 60/70 (Plus), noted "plus defensive potential" and a "special player at a premium position".
Arm Strength: 60 (Plus) – Described as having a "quick release" and "above-average arm strength" capable of making all the throws from the hole.
Speed/Range: 60 (Plus) – His "twitchy athleticism" and "plus range" allowed him to cover significant ground to both sides.
Giménez made his MLB debut with the Mets on July 24, 2020, and played significant time at shortstop for New York during his rookie season. By late 2020, he had actually begun to take over as the Mets' primary shortstop against right-handed pitchers, platooning with Amed Rosario. After being traded along with Rosario to Cleveland in 2021 as part of the Francisco Lindor deal, the Guardians determined that Rosario was more productive offensively while playing shortstop and hitting, whereas he struggled defensively when moved to other positions. Cleveland deemed it easier to move the versatile Giménez to second than to force the defensively-challenged Rosario to adjust to a new position. Gimenez made the switch seamlessly, and had a breakout All-Star season in 2022, then signed a seven-year, $106.5 million extension with the Guardians in 2023.
Gimenez has been one of the most valuable defensive players in MLB, and one of the most statistically dominant defenders over the last half‑decade.
· Won AL Platinum Glove in 2023 - awarded annually to best overall defensive player (i.e. at any position) in American and National Leagues.
· Won three consecutive AL Gold Gloves at second base (2022–24).
· Finish sixth in AL MVP Voting in 2022
· Named an All-Star in 2023
· Over the 2022–24 seasons, recorded 59 Defensive Runs Saved, second only to #BlueJays’ Daulton Varsho’s 72 across MLB.
· Over the 2022–24 seasons, he posted 52 Outs Above Average, also second in MLB, showing elite lateral range and exceptional conversion rates on balls hit to his glove side.
During the Jays’ 2025 run to the World Series, Gimenez was clutch. With runners in scoring position, he went 8-for-20 (.400) with a 1.235 OPS, including two home runs and 12 RBI. He ranked fifth in RBI in the 2025 postseason (12), trailing only Guerrero Jr., Ohtani, Kirk, and Teoscar Hernández. In the ALCS, he slashed .261/.320/.522 with two homers and six RBI.
Last month, Gimenez won the 2026 World Baseball Classic (WBC) championship with Team Venezuela, defeating Team USA 3-2 in the final. He played a key role defensively and was celebrated as a champion upon his return to his home country, saying bringing the title home was important for "all for Venezuela".🇻🇪

As with Venezuela, an attempt to end the brutal terrorist regime in Iran is a worthy endeavor. But also as with Venezuela, Trump may be looking for personal advantages that leave Iranians unable to seize the opportunity to live in freedom that all people deserve.
