SIGNS SOMEONE IS LYING TO YOUR FACE

1. Liars think looking away is a sign of lying, so they often stare at you too much and don’t blink, trying to look honest.

2. A person who is lying will subconsciously place an object (laptop, bag, or coffee cup) between you and them as a “shield.”

3. If you ask a simple “Yes/No” question and they give you a 3-minute story with irrelevant details, they are hiding the truth.

4. Using phrases like “To be 100% honest,” “Trust me,” or “I swear on my life” usually signals that a lie is coming.

5. If they say something confident but one of their shoulders gives a tiny, 1-second shrug, their body is betraying their lie.

6. After telling a lie, many people subconsciously put their hand over their mouth or touch their nose to “hide” the words.

7. If they repeat your question back to you (“Where was I last night?”), they are buying time for their brain to invent a story.

8. Their face might be smiling, but if their feet are pointed toward the exit, their brain is looking for an escape from the lie.

9. Stress makes the vocal cords tighten. If their voice suddenly gets higher or “squeaky,” they are under intense pressure.
