🚨 Confronting California Politicians behind the “Stop Nick Shirley Act”:
California’s Attorney General’s wife has created a bill titled AB 2624 (aka the Stop Nick Shirley Act) that will fine citizens and journalists a minimum $4,000 for exposing and searching for potential fraud inside Immigration Support Service Providers and take away their First Amendment rights.

This bill will protect NGOs, nonprofits, legal offices, healthcare facilities and learing centers who provide services to immigrants. If an immigration service provider gives you a piece of paper saying you cannot publish your video, you may be fined $4,000 and have to pay for their legal fees.

Instead of pushing for more transparency, California is trying to shield journalists and citizens from looking into where their tax dollars are going. California politicians need the fraud to continue.

This very odd bird who is now regulating what tires you can get in CA just gave away the whole scam. She cites high gas prices to justify it: "If we can bring down those costs even a little bit, why wouldn't we do it?"
Of course, no mention of reducing CA's self-imposed gas taxes that make our fuel costs 2X the national average. See the magic trick? They deliberately make your gas prices more expensive, to compel you to stop driving. Then they use the artificially high cost of fuel to impose further regulations and higher tire costs on you. The whole communist schtick is a positive feedback loop. It's the Arsonist-Firefighter Fallacy.
What's even more rich about this is that this is essentially an EV tax. EV ownership is skyrocketing, and what's their fatal flaw? They are VERY heavy vehicles, and they chew through tires like crazy. As the state has pushed more and more drivers into EVs, they're trying to find new ways to hurt drivers financially now that they're skipping out on the gas taxes. Devious, devious little commies.

its not a serious paper Brad, @sciam and I'll tell you why in one single paragraph.

A 2003 paper about the chaotic first 2 years transition of Tawain's paper based HC system to Single Payer, which suggested that Tawain eliminated fraud and cut 8% of HC costs. The Yale paper decided that they could apply the same 8% to the cost of HC in the USA and save $265b in a transition to M4A. $265B, Thats more than the cost of HC at the VA, Tricare and DOD combined. That's about 1/3 of the Defense budget. Unserious.

We need to change HC in this country. It's a clusterfuck. The last thing we need is politicians, on either side, spewing nonsense to create headlines and talking points.

How are you going to tax them ? Make them borrow money against their shares, if they can? They just raised money to grow their company and a bank will come along and loan them money ? A company that has been in business maybe less than a year ? lol

Will you take their stock if they can’t ?

Do you really think each of multiple founders, who started an amazing company in Cali and is now a billionaire, can each just pull out $250m per billion of net worth from their raise ? You know they can’t.

If this passes , and it doesn’t directly impact me at all, I won’t be a cali resident, but you can bet if I’m investing in a multi billion dollar startup, I’m asking them to move from California first.

IMO, if this passes, only idiot startup founders stay in Cali.

I’ve done it before and will do it again. Dallas. Pittsburgh. Indiana. I will make NOT being in California a pre requisite for an investment

• Lets his home go into foreclosure
• Leaves the United States
• Then applies for ANOTHER U.S. visa later

Another H-1B holder reports roughly $180K in consumer debt and a $406K mortgage while saying he may have only 1-1.4 years remaining in the country.

Forget immigration politics for a second.

Why shouldn’t serious unpaid U.S. debts be part of the conversation when someone wants to extend their stay, renew a visa, change status, get another work visa, obtain a green card, or return to America later?

We’re constantly told H-1Bs benefit America because they pay taxes and contribute to the U.S. economy.

Fine.

Then count the whole ledger.

Taxes paid matter.

So do unpaid loans, defaults, foreclosures and debts potentially left behind.

Temporary should mean temporary.

And financial obligations shouldn’t disappear at the border.
