Just so we are clear. Haitians are currently in the United States legally.
They are not here illegally.
Trump is revoking their legal status Feb. 3, and then, according to reports, immediately sending ICE in to Springfield and Columbus, Ohio, to target them.
Here's the real kick about how Trump's tariffs are going to hike prices for everything: Once that happens, even if the tariffs go away, the prices are never, ever going back down again.
New Editor Commentary: Ohio lawmakers are currently occupying unconstitutionally gerrymandered seats. This is not a matter of opinion. It was adjudicated by the Ohio Supreme Court five times. It is a fact. And it's why Ohio Issue 1 is now on the ballot.

Editor Commentary: Three generations of my family have called Springfield, Ohio home, and my partner's family is Haitian. Both the Haitian community and Springfield community live in my heart, and I’m disgusted by the politics being played on both of them.

On universal school lunches, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine says, "My question is, should taxpayers pay for it."
Ohio taxpayers are paying $1 billion to private and religious schools for families that never used public schools.
But paying to feed public school kids is his big concern?
New Editor Commentary: Ohio's true state of the state is relentless misrepresentation, extremism, and corruption. Meanwhile, Ohio ranks in the bottom half of states on education, economy, environment, infrastructure, and health care.

Editor Commentary: Regarding public corruption, Ohio Gov. DeWine is either astoundingly naïve, gullible and incompetent - allowing executives, lobbyists, aides and his own regulator to play him like a fiddle - or he knew a lot more than he's pretending.

If right-wing know-nothings are upset about Alexander the Great being gay, just wait til they hear about the unrelenting pansexuality of almost all the Roman emperors lol
Editor Commentary: I've lived in Ohio for nearly four decades and for that entire time, LGBTQ+ lives have been treated by our politicians as little more than a convenient political punching bag. Every year I ask myself, why can't they just leave us alone?

Ohio Gov. DeWine showed more humanity and compassion today in a half-hour press conference than gerrymandered GOP lawmakers were able to in the last year. His veto of the anti-trans bill protects vulnerable children and families from unjust government interference. I applaud him.
New Editor Commentary: Ohio Republican lawmakers' anti-trans attack is a despicable, cold-hearted, uncaring, dangerous display of unbridled bigotry. This bill, if signed, will cost lives. Gov. DeWine will now decide whether he wants to be part of that.

It's Thanksgiving week and I want to share a story about why Americans should be thankful for our democratic republic and should fight to always protect it from the constant and increasing threat of authoritarianism. I had dinner last night with my partner's Haitian family. 1/
Ohio voters just took firm positions on abortion rights and recreational marijuana, but gerrymandered Ohio lawmakers are already planning to flout, ignore, challenge, and abuse the voters' wishes. This is what gerrymandering brings. This is why it's the fundamental poison.
Recreational marijuana will soon be legal in Ohio after voters passed Issue 2 on Tuesday. This legalizes and regulates the cultivation, manufacturing, testing and the sale of marijuana to Ohioans 21 and up, and takes effect in 30 days.

.@DC_DeWitt on Ohio vote on constitutional amendment threshold: "It's a blatant power grab by lawmakers and lobbyists who want to rig the game. They want to rig it against voters. They don't want to be held accountable." #TheReidOut
I've written 16 columns since December about Ohio Issue 1. I've strived to cover every angle and argument possible to educate voters with the power of knowledge on what is a once-in-a-lifetime, historic attack on voter power. I'm sharing all of my columns here in one thread. 1/
