@wiaawi it is time to start taking a hard look at the reason for the decline of participation in girls basketball in the state. It might be time to stand up to year round club sports. It might be time to shorten the season. It is time to do something before it is too late.

Mercer is the latest school to shut down its girls basketball program. Team has opted out of playoffs and canceled all games.

There are at least 11 #wisgb that have canceled all or most games this year.

I have been watching the @IGHSAU state championships all week. Why can't we take 8 teams at all levels and make a week of games like they do? Why do we have to showcase D1? Showcase everyone, isn't that the idea?

It is 14 years since the WIAA moved from 4 to 5 divisions in basketball, and it's amazing how many people who don't understand that this didn't ADD D5 (which is identical to what old D4 would have been).

It largely split old D1 into new D1 & D2.

Old D2 became new D3, and old D3 became new D4, for most part.

Five divisions DID NOT ADD SMALL SCHOOLS TO THE STATE TOURNAMENTS!
