@cblatts Lowering the bar is the much bigger problem to me. You could argue that AI is actually less biased (or at least more transparently biased) than the humans who would be doing counterfactual target selection. Who one holds accountable is a separate question of course…

Cold cost-benefit in target gen is not new and use of AI is only increasing. I hate doing this, but we need to sort out where the problems are and where they aren't for human rights. (1/n):

Finally, accuracy -- TBH, human rights probably benefits from increased accuracy that comes with AI. The humans who otherwise would be making these decisions are motivated (and influenced) by all kinds of circumstantial and personal factors. Hard but important realization here...

Who will run the survey experiment to empirically estimate the threshold value for # Palestinian lives Israelis are comfortable trading for the return of all 100+ hostages? My guess is can't be less than 100,000, and I might still be low by an order of magnitude.
