@brofromanother I am so confused. Did you also see one of the later showings? Maybe I was just very tired, but it felt like a huge miss. The comedy was so broad and the murder plots just dragged on.
@mavericksmovies It was one of the best things I saw at TIFF that year. Netflix dropping the bag with a stingy release is a mystery Benoit Blanc couldn't solve.
@jasonosia@scott_kernen@account756790@the_film_maniac Nomadland was also adapted from a nonfiction book.
I don't think this is even a close call. The poster and one-pager have the "based on" credit, which cites the Esquire piece as well as the play-within-the-film as sources.
@jasonosia So far it's only played Telluride (where I loved it), but I think it's a very tough sit for Academy rank and file. I predict a lot of pushback from fans of the book.
Gotta think Brutalist is a big contender for NYFCC.
OK WAIT. I can maybe accept that Brisket The Dog isn't in the movie, but he wasn't even adopted on location where they were filming TWISTERS? People will let Glen and Brisket get away with anything (via cuteness).

@BenVerlander Nearly full by the third tonight, people rolling in on time buying food and drinks for the early of innings. (FWIW, those third deck seats above RF are always the last to sell/fill.)
