Approximately 10million souls in Gaza and Israel today find themselves in a war zone. Most are innocent of the ongoing atrocities. Few are prepared to face eternity.
Pray for peace.
Pray for the gospel to be proclaimed and believed.
Every local church needs a robust kids & student ministry. Don’t neglect them. Gosh they need you.
Studies show that 75% of Christians trusted Christ before the age 18. That’s still the case!
Become a church that cares for them.
Build a strategy to reach them.
Go after them!
Hudson Taylor once said, ‘Unless there is an element of risk in our exploits for God, there is no need for faith.’
It’s so easy to find ourselves saying, ‘be careful,’ but the gospel gives us the boldness to say, ‘be brave.’
Faithful Bible preaching carries authority, not because the preacher has authority, but because that which is preached — the Bible — is the authoritative Word of our King.
Another @Reds win!!!
So many big plays late in this one. @LilSenzii with the catch in the 9th by the wall and how bout @spenc__er at 1st Base with the scoop in the 10th-somehow kept his foot on the bag. Guy is so consistent anywhere they put him in the field! These kind of plays have been adding up for weeks. Just grateful to watch these boys work EVERY DAY! Onto Milwaukee for a massive series before the break!
Parents,
You every right to do surprise checks on your child’s cell phone.
- Check their social media.
- Check their DMs.
- Check their text messages.
- Check their search history.
They may not like it, but kids need involved parenting more than they need privacy and secrecy.
Normal SBC pastor: I love being a part of the SBC and supporting mission work theough the Cooperative Program.
Twitter SBC: YOU GOTTA BE OUTRAGED OVER WHAT I’M OUTRAGED ABOUT OR YOU’RE A HERETIC!!!
Me: I like normal SBC pastors.
Lydia Owens recently delivered a speech at the Woodmont High School graduation ceremony, where she was recognized as the school's Valedictorian and Senior Class President. Lydia is the daughter of our Executive Pastor, Brian Owens. So it might not surprise you that she mentioned Jesus in her speech, but this young lady took it to the next level.
In her 3-minute address, Lydia boldly proclaimed the gospel of Jesus Christ. She clearly communicated that Jesus alone determines value, defines success, provides real satisfaction, and gives us hope when everything around us falls apart. She unashamedly made much of her Savior.
Lydia lost her mom just under 2 years ago, and it was an incredibly challenging time for her and the family (as well as our church). Her testimony, however, speaks to the gospel that her mom taught her to trust. My heart danced as I listened to this beautiful example of grace and truth standing in front of her classmates.
Brian Owens is one of my best friends in life, and truly a hero of a dad. So I am proud of Lydia as her Pastor, but maybe even more so as a friend to her dad. She lives her faith and is willing to shout it for the whole world to hear.
Yes, tragedy struck Lydia's life, and its impact was great. But she is a living example that God's grace is greater!
In light of ‘pride month’ - here are two things to remember.
Do Love:
Behind every self-identified label is a person that God loves. People are more than labels.
Don’t Affirm:
One of the most unloving things we can do is affirm and celebrate what the Bible calls sinful.
The way of the Christian leader is not
the way of upward mobility in which the world has invested so much, but the way of downward mobility ending on the cross. It is not of power & control, but of powerlessness & humility in which Jesus Christ is made manifest. - Henri Nouwen
Too many kids are leading their homes.
Deciding whether or not to go to Church, what gender they’re going to be, talking to their parents as though they’re the adults & their parents are the kids, etc.
Parents take your God-given role back. Only you can be their parent. Lead.
Since LGBTQ Pride Month is just around the corner, Christians can prepare themselves for the onslaught of gay propaganda.
The most important thing to remember is this: LGBTQ ideology is a religious cult. The sexual "revolution" has ended, and the sexual "religion" has arrived.
@TheSBCPlatform@PastorMikeStone@ronniefloyd This is like a person saying, I don’t give to support the church as a whole, I just direct my gift/tithe to this ministry y’all do that I like. BUT if you elect me as a leader for your church & do all the things my way, I’ll return to giving to the whole again. Thanks, I’ll pass.
I am fully convinced of this: a lost world needs Southern Baptists to remain committed to working together to share God‘s solution—the gospel—to the world’s greatest problem, lostness.
Are we the world’s last and only hope? No, but we know the One who is.
@shane_pruitt78 I would add there’s a GAP between children and youth as well. We see that once kids hit middle school it’s even easier to allow extracurriculars such as sports take previously faithful families and students away from church.
