Following a 9-2 loss, the #Reds wake up seven games back of the Brewers, last place in the NL Central.
It was yet another noncompetitive performance, and a night worthy of a refund for the 19,409 fans at GAPB.....
Lyon Richardson was so erratic, the Royals didn't swing at any of his first 14 pitches. Following two walks and a hit by pitch in the 1st inning, the game that was over with a Lane Thomas grand slam. Richardson threw 30 pitches, just 13 strikes.
The Reds lost by at least five runs for the 16th time, tied with the Rockies for the most in MLB. A year ago, the Reds lost 20 such games all season.
Kansas City entered the game having lost six in a row and 16 of 19. They came to town 7-20 on the road, having been outscored 135-83. Averaging just over 3 runs per game away from Kauffman Stadium, they dropped 9 on the Reds, tying their season high road production.
Offensively, the Reds managed just six hits, striking out 12 times.
They scored a single run in the 1st and the 9th. The night ended with three sub .200 hitters in the lineup.
Nick Krall has done such a poor job of assembling MLB and minor league talent. What he has served up disguised as help for a MLB team trying to survive borders on criminal. It's become one spaghetti toss on the wall/no business being in the majors offerings after another.
The last three bullpen options he's provided Terry Francona arrived with Louisville ERA's of 5.23, 5.12, 4.75.
What are we doing?
At some point it has to be deemed unacceptable by the front office and ownership. It just has to be.
Waaaaaay too often this team just isn't competitive.
I'm tired of it. Aren't you?
Great. We're back to TJ Friedl playing. He's only 3 for his last 32. Surely this is the time he gets back going.
Almost like we should call up the 2nd baseman setting the world on fire in Louisville and get everyone back to normal positions. (Arroyo probably a ++ defender at 2nd base.)
Let it sink in that Terry Francona CONTINUES to have one of his worst hitters this year leading off & giving him the most ABs out of everyone
This is madness dude
How many more 1 for 30 stretches does Friedl need to be moved out of that spot¿
lol. Your lineup just scored 0 runs against last place Houston that has 18 guys on the IL & Mike burrows pitching
Some urgency would be awesome, old man.
Dunno how much it matters given all the issues with the Reds, but continuing to bat TJ Friedl leadoff is asinine.
His ranks among 177 qualified hitters:
.188 AVG (166th)
.265 OBP (162nd)
.278 SLG (168th)
7.3 BB% (131st - 1 walk in his last 20 games)
51 wRC+ (169th - not nice)
Probably because Vrabel didnt threaten to kill himself after committing a felony and breaking into someones apartment with a knife. That may be a good start for you to figure out why.
