@cleary_mitch@7NewsMelbourne@7NewsBrisbane@7AFL@triplemfooty Impey should have asked for his holding the ball decisions to be served in round 1 next season instead, and just ball it up with 30 seconds to go. Beyond a joke if this is allowed.
@FrankWCE1992@usuaklbdhak That makes 0 sense at all from a rules of the game side. It should be the same rule in the first quarter or last. Shouldn’t change at any point of the game.
@goodbloke91@usuaklbdhak 100% mate easy fix to this rule is make it any ball that goes out in between the 50’s is a turnover. Remove the interpretation so that it’s black and white. Doesn’t matter if it’s off a knee or foot or any body part
@FrankWCE1992@usuaklbdhak The point of the game shouldn’t make any difference on the call. No intent to keep the ball in just to stop a lasso free. That’s been the argument about all of the calls that it shouldn’t matter if it’s start or the end of a game.
@PfitznerMiles Everyone was saying how brave the umpire was to make a call based off the letter of the law that late in a game. Why aren’t we saying that about the tribunal? Letter of the law says it’s a week off, why should the fact it’s a gf change that?
@AFL The same way everyone is saying Impeys call was correct and based off a memo from the AFL in 2023. See the afl stance on gut punches. Letter of the law like we have heard since the prelim says it’s a week. No one is saying how brave the MRO is?? Double Standards
@RalphyHeraldSun So interesting to see the change in opinions on the letter of the law in 24 hours Everyone is pointing to the memo in 2023 for the Impey call and the fact it shouldn’t have changed for a prelim. Gut punch all season has been a week clubs and players notified from day 1 this year
@PfitznerMiles@JR_5000 Same as that holding the ball call though happens 30 times in a game in the middle of the ground and isn’t a free. Players were warned this season if you got punch it’s a suspension. Should be treated no different because it’s a final than a normal game like last nights calls
@RalphyHeraldSun The same way everyone was saying that players and coaches were warned about the holding the ball rule a few years ago. Players know if they punch in the stomach this season it’s a suspension no way he should get off based off last nights decisions.
@goodbloke91@PfitznerMiles As I’ve said multiple free kicks missed both ways. Throughout the whole game. However those last 2 calls not the Impey had an impact on the result. As long as they are paid that way moving forward so unless your are tackled over the line should it be a free?
@muzz_francis@ShowersPavilion@RalphyHeraldSun I just hope now no matter what point of the game or position on the ground. The same calls happen next week. In the middle of the ground the precedence should be set if you have a free arm (even ruckman) and your tackled its holding the ball
@PfitznerMiles My point is more the deliberate and Zorko free in the last 90 seconds were biased calls. Which had a direct result on the game. We could comb through the other aspect and tick for tack. I would say it went the way of the lions from a 50/50 side just like some weeks it swings
@haydenkyte50@RalphyHeraldSun As long as next week the same rules apply no matter what point of the game or where it is. In the centre of the ground or anytime someone takes it over and taps it if they don’t possess it cleanly on the pick up
@The__Irwin@braddavo No issues with calling it holding the ball but should be the same ruling in the middle of the ground as anywhere else. If that’s not what they call every time in the middle after a ball up. As I said 50/50 call. Hopefully it’s enforced in the grand final
@haydenkyte50@RalphyHeraldSun How about the missed 50 when Brisbane failed to stand twice? Or entered the protected zone. Going through a game you could find 50 decisions however 3 line ball calls in 90 seconds hurts. Would those 3 calls be paid if there wasn’t a minute left?
@ShowersPavilion@RalphyHeraldSun Talking about the last minute which affected the result. 2 clear goals that were from the wrong calls earlier in the game. Impey handballs correctly and it’s paid holding the ball. Then a Brisbane player fails to dispose of the ball correctly drops it and results in a goal.
