•The U.S. Senate may hold a floor vote TODAY which would overturn a 20-year moratorium on sulfide-ore copper mining on 225,000 acres of Superior National Forest land in the watershed of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) Wilderness in northern Minnesota. The Boundary Waters is the most visited Wilderness in the United States.
🛶 Enjoying the Minnesotan/Canadian wilderness by canoe or other lesser watercraft is one of our nations greatest available pastimes, and one I have personally enjoyed my entire life. We must protect these public lands from the rapacious capitalists threatening to turn them into a poisoned wasteland.
•This vote in Congress would open the door to copper mining at the headwaters of this entire ecosystem. This kind of mining produces toxic pollution, including acid runoff and heavy metals, that can contaminate nearby waters.
•The Boundary Waters supports a major outdoor economy that sustains thousands of jobs and generates over a billion dollars a year - built on clean water and intact public lands. But this vote would clear the way for toxic mining that puts all of that at risk. It would also set a dangerous precedent, making it easier to roll back protections for public lands across the country, including wilderness areas, national monuments, and national parks.
•This is a defining moment. If you care about clean water, public lands, and protecting places we can’t replace, now is the time to speak up.
•Protect the Boundary Waters, and vote NO on House Joint Resolution 140. Let’s save this treasured place for all of us—forever. https://t.co/JhNAR6Za2O
If you paid even a penny in federal income tax last year, you paid more than:
Tesla
Southwest
Disney
Live Nation
HP
United
PayPal
CVS Health
Palantir
Citigroup
PG&E
3M
That's right. They paid $0 in federal income tax.
It's time for big corporations to pay their fair share.
Some Americans are expressing ancient hatreds, smirking at mentions of Hitler, and plastering buildings with images US soldiers once tore from the walls of German cities. Politicians who encourage or tolerate such scoundrels should be driven from office.

In the midst of ICE horror, the Senate needs to prohibit Trump from using ICE as a voter suppression tool. Senate Dems need to put into the approps bill a prohibition on ICE agents being near polling places. This is a must have. Last chance to do this.
Last year, Trump promised American oil executives “a great deal” if they donated $1 billion to his campaign.
Today, he gave them Venezuela — home to the largest oil reserves in the world.
This new war is not only illegal and reckless; it is deeply corrupt.
Typical of Republican men telling a woman to “shut up get back in the kitchen and fix me something to eat.”
F*ck you in the sweetest most southern drawl I can enunciate.
I have been trying tell all you “men” that our kitchen pantry is empty with spider webs, our house has been ransacked, the windows and doors are broken and busted, and the greedy rich bastards have twisted your minds into a sick state that you all continue in the two party toxic political system that acts like college football playoffs yet is burying you and your children and their children and their children in a pine box in a shallow grave.
Get off your ass and fix your own damn food and clean up the kitchen when you’re done.
Senator Schumer is no longer effective and should be replaced. If you can’t lead the fight to stop healthcare premiums from skyrocketing for Americans, what will you fight for?
That's twenty-seven flat-out murders. That's twenty-seven lives taken without even a semblance of a legal justification under domestic or international law.

On June 24, I began my Election Night speech by quoting Mandela: “It always seems impossible until it’s done.” That's the spirit of this campaign, and our city.
This is "Until It’s Done,” a new series about New Yorkers who refused to accept that a worthy goal was impossible.
Epstein survivor Haley Robson: “I’m not angry, I’m exhausted. I’m tired. I am disgusted. How can we move on when the leader of the free world keeps calling this a hoax? It’s appalling.”
@UpdatingOnRome The 'turning point in history' theme is used way too often but I think about Julian the Apostate a lot...what would have happened if he'd ruled for a substantial amount of time? I truly think the world would be vastly different
@zoerosebryant I've got to say I've really been enjoying your breaking bad related tweets, can't wait to see your better call saul reactions, which in my opinion is the better show..😬
