For me this is not the actual question, there is no good reason for profit to ever guide decisions of production. We need democracy!

I think the timing for criticism of woke politics is a bit off for the US. Obama and then Musk led the way. Now people are getting laid off enmasse using anti-wokeness as the justification. We don't have the force to make a nuanced defense stick.
