Ss should be part of the referendum discussion, not just sitting on the sidelines listening to adults talk about it. I enjoyed presenting to our MS and HS Ss today and answering their questions.

Referendums impact Ss more than anybody else...just as they should.

[Josh Robinson @JoshRobinson74]

I sat down with a senior student today and asked how we can be better. Quick and simple response.

“Teachers have to be passionate about what they teach and what they do. We know when passion isn’t there.”

Agreed

Leaders - Find ways to help teachers display their passion.

“If we only show the doom and gloom in the world, our students begin to see the world as bad. Show them the good and kids will mobilize kids.” @micheleborba tells us to aim for the kids. Let’s help student leaders mobilize each other to make a difference with empathy.

Thankful for the opportunity to present with this team about our community childcare center serving 113 families and 170 children from 13 different zip codes! Room was filled with eager learners asking great questions. #EarlyLearning #2019EdCon #GoFrederic ⁦

Enjoyed being part of this panel presenting our story regarding the #FutureSearch process. Excellent, ongoing process for #GoFrederic which is helping us build capacity and strength in our district. The room was full! #2019EdCon

@Rockshot_Joelle @adeuman10 @dbrewsterdasd @whsd_supt Thanks for attending the session @Rockshot_Joelle Communication with our stakeholders, in a way that is meaningful and effective for each of them, needs our fullest attention. Giant, ongoing challenge for all leaders.

Thank you to @SenSchachtner for visiting the Frederic School District this morning. She spent time in high school classrooms, at the elementary school, and in our Roots and Branches Community Learning Center.

@CESA6forGrowth @SaraEichten @baseballzawacki @VinceBreunig @CESA6 Looking forward to reading this and sharing it with my principals! Thanks Dr. Stronge and @CESA6forGrowth! Congratulations colleagues! #Center4growth

[Josh Robinson @JoshRobinson74]

Dr. James Stronge @CESA6forGrowth - We can increase our effective teacher class size by 8 students and reduce our less effective teacher class size by 8, and student achievement will increase across the school. Class size doesn’t need to be equal. #center4growth

[Josh Robinson @JoshRobinson74]

Learning from Dr. James Stronge ⁦@CESA6forGrowth that our most effective teachers practice high yield instructional strategies rather than low yield strategies like retention, television, ability grouping, and team teaching. #Center4growth

[Josh Robinson @JoshRobinson74]

How simple is this? Look a staff member in the eyes and say “I appreciate you.” @htaylor79 reminds us that we shouldn’t assume it’s implied. This helps retain staff more than the pay scale. @StuderEducation #employeerecognition #suptchat #edchat #2018EdCon

[Josh Robinson @JoshRobinson74]

Leaders, it doesn’t matter HOW you do rounding in your schools. What matters is that you DO rounding. Get out and get engaged with staff. #2018EdCon @jasternke @StuderEducation @RogerRindo @htaylor79

[Josh Robinson @JoshRobinson74]

Students are looking into their phones because the world is on the other side of the screen. Explore culture and connect people. @RaviUnites #2018EdCon

[Josh Robinson @JoshRobinson74]

Leaders don’t always know if it’s the right decision, but we have to make the decision. Then we have to make the decision right. Lesson from Ravi Hutheesing #2018EdCon

Some classrooms have charts displayed to identify the status of kids’ behaviors, choices, and/or mistakes.

What if...

The school’s office, lounge, or workroom had charts displaying the behaviors, choices, mistakes of staff?

Would that add value to the culture?

He couldn’t stop telling me about the trains he was reading about. So excited! When reading happens, learning happens. Let’s ensure reading is happening at all levels. It’s really that simple. #Reading #literacy

Excited to have my brother, Superintendent Robinson, sharing his “lessons in administration” with future principals in our @UWRiverFalls Principal licensure program. Great wisdom!
