Every regulatory change shouldn't require lenders to rewrite their applications.

Keep lending rules and compliance workflows configurable, with clear versioning and testing.

That allows banks and fintechs to adapt to new requirements without repeatedly rebuilding the loan journey.

[Josh Software @joshsoftware]

Loan #fraud can leave clues before an application is submitted.

Device signals, repeated identity patterns and unusual onboarding behaviour can reveal risks early.

Combine these signals into risk-based checks throughout the application journey, so suspicious cases receive scrutiny before approval.

[Josh Software @joshsoftware]

#Banks investing in #AI should first examine how easily their systems can share data.

Expose core capabilities through APIs and use event-driven services to make relevant data available when needed.

That gives AI faster access to reliable information without replacing the entire core.

Team Josh at SecEthos26.

We were proud to be the Gold Sponsor of SecEthos26, the annual cybersecurity conference by the ISC2 Pune Chapter. This year’s theme was From Defense to Resilience: Evolving Cybersecurity Strategies.

Our Co-founder, Gautam Rege, spoke on Securing India’s Payment Infrastructure, exploring emerging threats such as AI-driven fraud, supply-chain vulnerabilities, and disinformation, along with strategies to strengthen the security and trust of India’s digital payment ecosystem.

Ankita Advitot followed with a live demo of an application we built to tackle a growing problem: deepfakes in Video KYC.

The application:

🔹 Analyses Video KYC sessions for deepfakes and manipulated identities
🔹 Generates a report flagging suspicious sessions, with evidence to support further review
🔹 Automates key verification checks, making them faster, more consistent, and cost-effective

Combining automated fraud detection with a standard verification process makes Video KYC more secure, efficient, and reliable.

At the Josh booth, our team met industry leaders and discussed how we build secure, scalable technology for fintech.

Thank you to the ISC2 Pune Chapter for hosting a great event, and to everyone who stopped by.

A concern raised during a review might prevent an issue weeks later. An edge case caught before release might save hours of debugging in production. Someone questioning a seemingly harmless assumption might stop it from becoming a much bigger problem at scale.

None of these moments necessarily make it into a release note.
But they say a lot about how a team works.

Good engineering cultures make room for people to question, test, prepare, challenge and sometimes slow things down today so the system doesn't bring everyone to a halt tomorrow.

And importantly, they recognise that contribution even when there is no dramatic incident to point to.

Because reliability isn't the absence of engineering work.
Very often, it's the result of it.

We’re excited to share that @VishwaDesurkar will be speaking at Deccan Queen on Rails 2026!

Topic: I See Dead Models: What Nobody Tells You About Running AI Features in Production

From uncovering the challenges of taking AI features beyond development to navigating the realities of running them in production, Vishwajeetsingh will share insights into what it really takes to make AI work in the real world.

Looking forward to his talk bringing valuable perspectives to the Ruby and AI community!

AI can make one person dramatically faster.

But organisations do not move at the speed of one person.

Work still passes through reviews, approvals, dependencies and multiple teams before anything actually gets done.

So when one part of the workflow suddenly accelerates, the bottleneck often just shifts somewhere else.

Getting real value from AI means looking beyond individual productivity and asking a harder question: does the way work moves through the organisation need to change too?

Every AI-generated banking response should leave an evidence trail.

Which transaction fact did it use?
Which RBI rule supported it?
Which tools did the agent call?

If the answer reaches a customer, the bank should be able to reconstruct how it got there.

[Josh Software @joshsoftware]

An #AI agent that can investigate a failed transaction doesn't need the authority to reverse it.

Give agents authority based on consequence: access the facts, recommend the next action and escalate sensitive cases, while financial execution remains separately authorised.

#AgenticAI #Banking #AI #BFSI

[Josh Software @joshsoftware]

One failed #UPI transaction reported through three channels shouldn't create three investigations.

Give the complaint an identity that travels across channels.

Identity resolution + semantic deduplication can connect those interactions to one case and one SLA clock.

Data platforms are expected to make increasingly complex information easier to work with.

But as the volume of data, users, and workloads grows, the experience around that data becomes just as important as the processing power underneath it.

For DataPelago, that meant strengthening identity and access controls, making tenant onboarding less cumbersome, improving traceability, and bringing interactive analytics closer to the user’s existing workflow.

The result is a platform where security and usability can scale together, rather than one becoming the price of the other.

Because for enterprise data products, performance is only part of the experience. How securely and easily people can access, explore, and work with that data matters just as much.

Engineering education trains us to solve problems.

Here's the requirement. Find the solution.
Here's the bug. Fix it.
Here's the constraint. Design around it.

But as engineers grow, the problems tend to become less defined, not more.

There isn't a formula that tells you exactly when a monolith should become microservices. There isn't a framework that guarantees a team will work well together. And there certainly isn't a universal answer for how much complexity you should introduce today for a future you can't predict.

Perhaps learning in the age of AI therefore needs to evolve too.

Less emphasis on accumulating answers.
More practice identifying the questions that could change what we build next.
