One of the key issues, the World Junior “bubble” was full of holes. The players’ hotels are filled with guests, full lobbies, corridors and common areas. Players have been social distancing, wearing masks and barely leaving rooms but the hotels are full of people everywhere.

This is getting out of control. Sources on multiple teams in Red Deer have expressed frustration over a moving target on protocols and the uncontrolled environments (ie hotels with general public staying there too) they’re staying in. Makes it near impossible.

To add to this: My understanding is that reservations for the Cambridge Red Deer Hotel have been closed for some time now. But it also functions as a conference centre and the deal was to honour longstanding bookings.

Lacking in foresight would be an understatement nonetheless.
