📚Following up with some information regarding divorce rates in the USA due to some comments I made on the @whatever podcast recently. Please enjoy this information - it was very eye opening for me, personally!💡

📊In 2018, 44.6% of all marriages ended in divorce.
(1.)

1️⃣First marriages have a ~35% divorce rate.
2️⃣Second marriages have a ~60% divorce rate.
3️⃣Third marriages have a ~73% divorce rate.

🇺🇸In 2018, the share of total divorces per racial demographic is:
👍🏼White: 19.6%
👍🏿Black: 40.1%
👍🏾Hispanic: 24.7%
👍Other: 16.1%

📝This means that in a racially representative sample of 100 individuals in their first marriage:
➡️35 would divorce in total
➡️6.9 would be White
➡️14 would be Black
➡️8.6 would be Hispanic
➡️5.6 would be Other

📉Statistically, divorce rates in the USA are still very high, ranking at #13 globally, however, the main-stream claim that "50% of all marriages end in divorce" is incredibly shallow and completely lacking in contextual nuance. Odds are, things are actually much better than you've been thinking!🎉
