It's astonishing to me the difference in quality between "handmade" codebases and those that are "vibe-coded"... people need to care about their craft.
Nörth's total size so far as I approach Alpha state:
- macOS Client (Swift): 5,373 LoC
- HTTP Server (Swift): 2,541 LoC
- Cross-Platform RTC Library (Rust): 696 LoC
Total: 8,610 LoC
I love the editor and have used it for years now professionally, but we need to talk to each other like humans again. And yes, that means us engineers too.
This is a true regression (from Zed's 1.0 announcement):
"It used to mean humans working together in real time. Now it means humans and AI agents, working in the same space, on the same code."
Updated design for Nörth on macOS - a split floating-panel design that stays out of your way, but there when you need it.
Side note: Nörth will also now be native on macOS, while the Windows and Linux clients will be built with Rust & @dioxuslabs .

Hero design for my new project: Nörth - a workplace collaboration app that promotes more human interaction and genuine connection in the remote workplace. More to follow! #BuildInPublic
