Have too brag on my little man and his team once again!
Alabama 8u State Champs! #chatomAL
To put the icing on the cake⦠he hit his first ever DINGER in the Championship game!
Now on to Southwest Regionals in Monroe, Louisiana!
This one is heavy on my heart.
Like many of you, Iāve thought a lot about the tragedy involving Henry Ruggs III. A young woman lost her life⦠her family lost someone they can never replace⦠and that kind of pain doesnāt go away. My prayers will always be with them first.
But I also want to talk about something we donāt always want to wrestle withā¦
Second chances.
Henry was on the Alabama team when my son Roman was a recruiter. Theyāre the same age. Outside of that, the only thing he and I really share is that we both wore that Alabama jersey.
But that connection is enough to make me pause and thinkā¦
āIf it wasnāt for the grace of God⦠there I go.ā
Coach Saban said it, and Roman confirmed it: Henry was a model player and a model student. No issues. No attitude. No problems. Just a good young man doing everything right.
And yet⦠one set of decisions⦠one night of rookie pressure, one night without veteran leadership, one night of trying to fit into a culture that shouldāve protected him instead of pushing himāchanged everything. A young woman lost her life. A family was shattered. And Henryās life was forever altered..
And if weāre honest, a whole lot of us have had moments like that.
Moments where we couldāve made a life-altering mistake.
Moments where things couldāve gone left⦠but didnāt.
Not because we were betterā¦
But because Godās grace stepped in.
Now hear me clearlyāgrace does not erase consequences.
A life was lost. That matters. That will always matter.
But I also serve a God who doesnāt stop at our worst moment.
A God of second chances.
Iāve spent time reaching out to former players and others who ended up incarceratedānot to excuse what they did, but to help them find a way to rebuild their lives. Because I believe a mistake, even a serious one, should not automatically mean a life is over.
We all want mercy when itās our name.
We all want grace when itās our child.
So this is bigger than Henry.
This is about us being betterā
Being the friend who takes the keys.
Being the voice that steps in.
Being the leader when itās uncomfortable.
And at the same time⦠not giving up on people who fall.
Because every single one of us is living on borrowed grace.
If you believe in second chancesā¦
If you believe God is still in the business of redemptionā¦
I want to hear from you.

Letās talk about grace. Letās talk about accountability. Letās talk about rebuilding. Because if we canāt extend a hand to someone who fell, then what are we even doing?
Iāve got something I want to share with you.

Derek Jeter shares a truth about failure that most people don't want to hear.
"Failure is essential. If I can promise you one thing for certain, you will fail. I wouldn't have had the success without the failures."
Failure isn't the opposite of success - it's part of the path to it.
Successful people don't avoid adversity. They expect it. They know that they must learn from the setbacks and challenges.
You can't avoid failure - you have to be relentless in your pursuits and refuse to let it stop you.
Failure isn't a destination - it's a checkpoint. It's where growth begins.
